Back up the hill, we pulled the exo off with the excavator and did the finish welding and primered it.

Bed floor will be some sort of expanded metal, or some thin plate.

Ive got some other issues to deal with too. Need to adjust the front bumpstops, and my passenger side valve cover is leaking and either the clutch rubber line or the slave or both are leaking too. But I should be able to fix those pretty quick.

It really is. Haha. She can hold her own in a conversation (and often knows a little more) about off-roading and more specifically Toyota's. Probably because I never shut up about it. Haha.

Shes just as excited to wheel again as I am.

You know what they say. I liked it so I put a ring on it. :becky:

1 step forward, 2 steps back. Changed out the leaky clutch slave cylinder and both valve cover gaskets. Passenger side valve cover gasket still leaks and now front diff sounds crunchy. I sounds more like the locker is ratcheting under load, not a skipping ring gear, but Im gong to pull it out just to make sure, and Ill have another go at the valve cover gasket Thursday night .

Snugged down the valve cover bolts a bit, seemed to stop the leak? Calling it good for now.

Then pulled it in to check out the front diff. Drained the fluid and it looked like some one poured glitter in the gear oil. So the 3rd needed to come out. One thing I love about the IFS hub swap is I can pull the spindle off as a "unit bearing" took me 20 min per to get this off and shafts out, sort of like a modified "camo method"

Ring and pinion looked great, so I fixed the slipping locker. Ill test it out this weekend.

Tested the "spool" this weekend, works great! Snow is starting to melt so I didnt get stuck in the field this time. Hopefully next sunday I can make it up into the woods a bit.

Got my doors on, but they dont open. Only held on by the top hinge and the latch. Going to cut them down a bit more then cap them off. They will still be quick release.

And started on the next step. Found a good deal on a Advanced Adapters R150F to Gear drive box plate. Plan is to run a single 4.7 case. Im fine with a 35 Mph low range top speed, It gets trailerd everywhere. And this way I can still use my Budbuilt and existing drive shafts.

Edit: Some more info

Types of toyota stuff:

http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/faq/parts/

The truck has a R150F tranny with a chain driven VF1A Case. Has a 2.57 low range and is 23 spline. Strong, good case, but no aftermarket support.

I need an adapter to go from the r150f to the top shift case. The tranny is 23 spline, while all gear drive set cases are 21 spline. I either need a conversion gear in the crawl box (If I find a used set, sometimes can find a used box with gears for 3-500) or If I buy gears new, I can get 23 spline a input from the start.

I want to run a single 4cly top shift gear box behind the r150f to keep it simple. RF1A boxes are 2.28 reduction, but with a set of 4.7 gears, it makes it worth it. Duals would be cool, but this is simpler. I can always add another case down the road if I want to.

Very informative thread: http://www.yotatech.com/f116/v6-tran...r-case-231669/

Made a bed space out of a piece of pallet rack. Small U channel supports welded to the frame keep it pretty rigid. The grate allows me to attach pretty much anything to it. Tire is on by a piece of threaded rod with an old piece off a chevy tire carrier. Hi lift will probably end up on the back of the X brace.

Oil leak ended up being the back cam cover. Was able to turn each of the bolts a bit without taking off the plenum, and it seems to be working. So in testing, the rear end started making that same slipping sound the front did.

So I fixed that one too.

Its what I get for running practically free lockers.

Your scaring me with these lunchbox units. I'm about to put one the front of mine.lol

Looks great though

Well the lockers I had were pretty much freebees. I got them in a bulk trade kinda thing. Never checked the rear one, just put it in. Front had a broken center pin, so I changed that and threw it in. Id prefer to have spools anyway, one less failure point.

Got the rear end back together last night, but when I got to the shop there was a good sized antifreeze puddle under the truck. crap. No time to fix before sat, so Im just gonna run it! Doesnt seem to be too bad. Im hoping its just a loose line since I just had the plenium off, but it looks like its coming from, or at least pooling around, the back side of the passenger head. Hoping its not a HG. Truck runs fine, no oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil... So Im gonna wheel it tomorrow and tear into it some time next week.

Then, poped the hood to check the oil and noticed the engine was sitting a little crooked, quick check I found this:

So that ended my day a tad early, but ill pull them out and through bolt them and be done with it. A lot of people were taking pics today, so hopefully some more pop up.

Was a wicked awesome day. Sunny and 60.

Oil leak/antifreeze leak didnt slow me down too much, but needs to be fixed. I need to adjust the passenger side bumpstop, and I lost a bunch of power steering fluid (atf) out of the cap. Then after I fix all that, ill finish up those doors.
