I actually like the TP rims, but I want them black

....and no I don't want them plastidipped. Anyone have any idea if it's possible to get them painted black professionally so that it's much more permanent than plastidip? I'm assuming it's cheaper than new rims too. But, I actually really like the look of them, just not the stock color.

Yep, of course you can. I'm not sure if it's worth the effort though. Call some local powdercoaters to get quotes, I'm guessing it's going to be somewhere between $50-$100 per wheel, plus the cost of having to remove and re-mount your tires and tpms sensors. I'd ask yourself if you'd ever consider lifting your truck and/or going for a wider stance. If there's even a remote possibility of that then I'd probably suggest just going aftermarket, you can get them in the color/look you want, are typically lighter weight, and will afford you a wider stance to offset the increase in height. All comes down to personal taste but most people who lift their toyota's prefer a little negative offset for both handling and looks. FN Wheels and Stealth Custom Series make respectable hub centric wheels for toyota's if you're looking for a place to start.. Tons of threads on wheels here though so do some searching first. Goodluke.

I looked into this a few years ago too. every powder coating shop I talked to insisted that I have the wheels sand blasted (at my cost) before they would do anything. when you start to consider that new wheels can be had for a couple hundred each, suddenly re-coating stock wheels isn't such a great deal

I paid about $450 for everything including sandblasting and powdercoat. I like the look of the trail wheels.

I looked into a couple shops a while ago and they wanted 175 per wheel at the least expensive shop. So I plastidipped mine just to make sure I really like it.

These were matte black and I had them painted BBS gold about 18 months ago. While I think the painted finish looks amazing, it isn't holding up very well despite being professionally painted. I've already paid to refinish one after it started chipping and two other wheels are getting very small chips here and there. When these tires wear out, I'll be powder coating. I think it is tough for the painters to get each nook and crannie with a thick, even coat of paint and that hurts the durability.

I had mine powdercoated (grey, not black). Cost was less than $500 for tire removal, blasting, pc, re-mounting, and balancing. Has been about 7 months, hand they still look brand new. Very happy with result. Dip is fine considering it only costs a few bucks, but it's pretty easy to tell it's cheap dip. Center caps were painted; that cost me an extra $50. They can't be powdercoated (plastic).

I love the look of the Trail wheels so I pulled mine off and had them powdercoated black. My guy charged me $60/wheel but that included sandblasting them. I dropped them off at 9am and had them back at 3pm. I did remove/reinstall tires and TPMS myself though and that can be pricey at a tire shop.

Primo Powdercoating here in Huntington Beach, California will do them for $100 & rim, which includes dismount, powder-coat, mount & balance. They do killer work, and are very affordable. Drive from AZ on a weekday, they do a 24hr turn-around.

Silly me. I just sold my stock TE rims and offset the cost of my favorite rims with that. No powder coat and I know taste is personal but to me, the TRD wheels are 10x better looking than the stock TE wheels. Again, taste.
