I'm just starting out, but plan on a lot.

I've been lurking here since I decided to get a T4R ~1month ago.

Well, I finally found one!!
It was taken as a tradein at a somewhat local dealer. 2 owners, but seems like it was babied. EVERYTHING works. They just took it in a few days ago, and I went there with cash in hand, and made them an offer they probably could have refused if they wanted, but they took it!

Very Clean 1997 T4R Limited

Evergreen Pearl (with Charcoal? trim) <-- is that factory? The color code ref in the help section doesn't show it.

V6
Auto
185xxx mi.

Factory E-Locker

Wind Deflectors
Faded hood paint, but the frame is still BLACK, and absolutely NO rust.
No dings in the body either. It's been a while since I've seen a used vehicle with a body this nice, much less a 14yo truck.

runs like a dream!

Build up to come soon... :thumb3:

Without further ado:

Looks like you found a good flatform to start a build on..the faded hood could easily be replaced with a scooped one and yeah...they're nice although not as functional..the two tone color is factory, a friend of mine has the same.

Looking forward to seeing your build..welcome!

Thanks all,

I am going to start on a front bumper with my buddy in a few weeks.
Gonna model it after the Shrockworks bumper more or less.

Any suggestion on suspension mods? I am planning on doing coilovers eventually, but I may just do the rear with OME's and shocks for now, with spacers up front, and get the coilovers later....

What are the disadvantages if any of using spacers up front for a while?

After buying the truck and with tuneup/fluids etc. I have a case of fundsalow.

Thats a nice looking 4runner! Where are you located at in Virginia?

x2 or x3, but yeah, where in VA? Speaking of which, both of y'all need to head to the NE Meetup in mid March at Rausch Creek! Let's get some more VA love up in PA lol.

That's one clean looking '97! Welcome to the "How To Lighten Your Wallet" forum.

Yeah, between all of my hobbies, my wife pretty much stays mad. She says, she thought it was the woman who is supposed to spend $$ of frivolous things...

Well,
The wife backed into a telephone pole today. Put a nice crease in the passenger side corner of the bumper.
It hasn't even been a week since I bought it. :(
I'm being easy on the wife, though. She feels extremely bad. It surprised me because she had never hit anything before.

So, do I do a custom rear bumper, or $150 for a replacement chrome one?

I really like the addicted tube bumper, I'd probably model mine after it.

Sent from my "girlfriend"... According to my wife.

Here are the first of my "MODS"

Custom Bumper modification courtesy of the wife:

Dude, you got a wife interested in modding cars? You lucky dog!!:hatsoff::jk:

And I don't think you can have a thread with this title and not have any lolcatz, so here you go...
