i want to upgrade suspension of 03 sr5

Where do i start? I hate the ride quality of the veh, but i love the thing. It just sways going over bumps, i want a smoother ride. It feels like the center of gravity is set too high or something, i don't know. i have looked all over this site and the internet but have found nothing. Can someone please get me in the right direction, can someone suggest what i need to do or a website that i can look at for suggestions. thx

How many miles do you have on it?? It may be that your shocks are about to go out. I assume that you do not have the Sport Edition. If you have over 60-80K miles and your ride has degraded since you bought your 4runner, then i would check to see if your shocks are still in good condition.

If you want to have a more controlled ride, then i would look into getting new monotube shocks (Bilstein is a good choice). Bilsteins will surely give you a more controlled ride (less swaying), but it may stiffen up the ride a bit. Another option would be to get thicker sway bars.

Something that isn't mention much about the 4Runners when talking about thier height/ride suspension comfort is the fact that the front end sit "2 inches" lower than the rear of the vehicle. As the front shock/coil assenbly starts to wear, a driver would experience more dipping, a feeling of the rear tipping, and a bit more effort to keep the vehicle under control.

I suggest you look into replacing the front shock assembly with either A) Donahue front coilover adjustable 2"-3"shockers---more $$$$ or B) OME's 4Runner's space kits for the front and rear--less $$$! This will level out your vehicle and make you much more happier in my opinion. You should do a search in this forum to find out more information about spacers and lift kits!
