ICON rear resivoir shock question

I received my ICON stage 6 system and the rear shocks don’t match what ICON shows on their web site. The web shows the reservoir piggy-backed to the shock body. The ones I got are true remote reservoir complete with reservoir mounting bracket, similar to how the front shock’s reservoir mounts. The box says they are part #56505R which I can’t find information on. I’ve sent ICON and email to see what they have to say but was hoping for a quicker answer from the suspension gurus here.

Did I they send me a free upgrade or just the wrong shocks?

I think the most recent rears are remotes and not piggybacked. I have seen pictures of other rigs with the remotes.

Did you get These with your kit??

The #56505 are 2.0 shocks, per Icons site the stage 6 kit is suppose to have #57710 which is a 2.5 shock. Both are their VS series aluminum body shock. Something wrong I believe. :shrug:

Mine doesn't have the direct mount clamp, it has a remote frame mount clamp. The invoice has the shock's part number and says it's for 5th gen T4Rs. The whole system had to be special ordered, to build a stage 6 system, in pieces to meet my requirements (I like being different and difficult). The company I bought them from had most of it drop shipped from ICON since even ICON doesn't keep them in stock. It took over 2 months and I don't like the idea of sending them back and waiting another 2 months.

I believe Icon is switching over to remote resi. on their rear 2.5 shocks. As far as performance is concerned, a remote resi. shock is superior to a piggyback for a couple key reasons - you have a ton more fluid in a remote shock, more fluid = better heat transfer, etc... Second, you get much better heat dissipation with the reservoir being mounted "remotely" and not stuck on the body of the shock which is heating up as you are running. Also, some say the compression stroke / rebound stroke is smoother and more refined on the piggybacks due to the increased moving fluid and smooth path that the fluid takes.

When the rear bypass shocks showed up for the Stage X Icon kit Demello Racing put together for me I thought the same thing since the shocks were remote bypass instead of piggyback - a quick call to Dylan at Icon explained the reason.

Your good to go bro, and congrats on a nice suspension setup. Now go run the piss out of that thing!!!!!:cheers:

Makes sense and makes me feel more confident they sent me the parts to help me take my baby beyond regular stage 6 and turn it into a real off-road beasty.

BTW: They ICON trailing arms and UCA are awesome!!! They are designed and built like the proverbial brick $hit house, as are the shocks and springs. I can't wait to get everything installed.

Haha because a normal stage 6 isn't already an off road beast? That's awesome though man. I will have this exact same setup as you except I have the piggy back resi rear shocks, so mine will be just like the normal Stage 6.


I haven't seen the UCA's yet but have a set of the trailing arms and I agree. You could have your entire truck compacted into a cube and these things would still be sticking out of the side good as new.
