Idler Arm

95 4runner stock suspension questions, Now seems pretty simple to switch out this idler arm that is lose. I went ahead a bought the napa OEM part but before I replace this arm. I want to check. I have a stock suspesion now and am upgrading to a 2-2.5 OME lift kit. Will I need to upgrade the idler arm later ? if so I just want to do it now ? and can I do it now w/o the lift is there is a stroger upgradable one ?????????

No need to upgrade steering with the OME kit--stock will be fine. I had an OME kit on my '94, with no other changes (stock brake lines, etc.), and it worked great. Enjoy!

The idler arms bushing wear out. If you have the autozone idler arm (his bushing only fit certain dimensions), 4crawler makes brass bushing for it that make it MUCH stronger. If you plan to wheel, the idler arm wont hold up.

NWOR also makes a Idler arm brace, and total chaos makes an idler arm that pretty much indestructible...but its a little pricy.

Just to clarify my answer, I was addressing height differences--no need to change for OME lift. Great ideas for durability and strengthening to withstand trail abuse!

So it turned out that I also changed the pittman arm, but everything went well. Very easy fix. Enjoyed working on my truck today.
