Just concern if I ever strip the nuts that screws the fuel lines onto fuel filter.

Are these the correct parts (see image)?

77251B and 77252A

Yes, looks to be.This actually happened to me this week .However I only had to cut the line on the engine side though.I just bought a 14mm fuel line fitting with some 5/16 steel tubing + some -6an SS braided hose I had laying around and took care of it that way. I'll try and post up a pic tonight or tommorow.

Always attach the two metal lines to the filter and then mount the filter to the truck. You cannot go wrong.

Use flare wrenches when you undo the lines and you should be fine.

+1 on the flare nut wrenches. 14mm and 19mm. Spray on some Kroil days before removing the filter.

I'm still really confused why everyone keeps replacing the lifetime filters in the first place. Only time I have ever needed to even crack those loose was to verify that the tank was empty when the fuel gauge screwed up once.

Get the right tool and its an easy job. Flare nut wrench is what you NEED

Maybe if you cut up a filter that has been used for while you'll see why!

Of course it gets dirty its a filter. It really only matters if it gets dirty enough to actually limit the flow or start contaminating the fuel. I have neither problem at 210k on the 4Runner and have never had an issue with any of the previous 30 some Toyota's that I've owned. It is after all designed to be a lifetime filter.

Kroil the ever living hell out of those nuts before removal, like daily for a week or so!

That nut was not comming off no matter what!After I took it off I clamped the nut down on my vice and put the torch to it.No success ,the filter started twisting .

Looking at the above posted pic, what is the part number for line that exits the fuel filter that travels under the hood?
Tried to replace my fuel filter and it's frozen. I had treated it with liquid wrench for five days prior. Thanks for the help.

Don't hold your breath but if I get time I'll crack my fuel lines open tomorrow and drain a bit of fuel out of my 215k old filter. If you are getting that much contamination into the filter then I hope you have dropped the tank to inspect it for debris and to replace the pre filter on the pump itself. That is far from normal. By the way where do you buy fuel so I know to stay away from there.

Good reason to go ahead and replace my fuel sender bc gas gauge is wonky (TSB EL010-00). I'll let you know what i find inside tank. Most 4R filter change write ups say they find the same residue, some have photos. Mine may be especially dark because 14 years, 180,000 miles, original filter, dry dusty Denver. Please post a photo of what comes out of your filter.
