i live in north carolina and i recently purchased a 2004 sr5 4runner and found out the rear shocks are in need of being replaced. i talked with my brother who has a tacoma and he's pushing old man emu..i my goal is to just go ahead and replace all 4 and get suspension lift maybe 3 or 4 inches.. any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks

First off welcome to the club!
First thing I will say is that there is a ton of info here. You can use the search feature and find just about anything you want to know. Also check out this thread for ideas on lifts.
Also OME is a good option for a full suspension swap, and will net you around 3-3.5" of lift. This site will give you ideas

I would go with the Bilstein 5100's.
Bianc06 - If you want a short term remedy to hold you until you make up your mind, I'll be pulling the OEM shocks off my 07 sr5 4.0 4wd in a week or so, as I am putting an FJ setup on. If you can wait, I'll give you a great deal on the shocks, and I am also in NC. (I am keeping the built up struts and rear springs for a while, but may let them go in the future too. And if you drove over and took them off and put my new ones on, you can have them at no charge.)
