Inside line doesn't list Toyota introducing any new vehicles in NY

I just called Toyota's customer experience center and they have no release info for the 4runner to be released at the NY auto show. She said that they generally do release it sooner than 2 weeks if it was schedule to show. In addition, she mentioned there is no certainty that there would be a 2010 redesign, which is different from what I've heard from a friend who works for Toyota who claims to have seen the pics.

Jeep is releasing a new 2010 grand cherokee that looks pretty sharp...may have to check that out since Toyota seems to have issues with the 4runner.

I just want to get this over with, I WANT TO SEE IT......I'm either gonna have to have it or hopefully the specs won't change too much so that I can live with out it....
 
I'm pretty sure that we will not see the 5th gen 4Runner at the NYIAS. My buddy is a contractor for the show and he usually gets some good insider information. From what I've been hearing, we'll see a 4th gen at the NY show this year. Either way, I'll be there a day before it opens for the public, so I'll let you guys know ASAP.
 
I think the change in the economy has Toyota scaling back a bit so we might see the 4th gen stick around another year with minimal changes.

I hear what you're saying but I'm not sure they can afford to not do some redesigning if they plan to keep the 4runner around. Jeep is doing a redesign of the Grand CHerokee and I think the Explorer is also updated in 2010 as a 2011.

In a few months, we've gone from multiple sources saying the new 4runner is certain and will be at the NY autoshow with pictures as a joke, to uncertainty of not only the auto show but a redesign of the 4runner, itself.

Man, this sucks.
 
If I recall correctly ....
The 2003 4runner was never revealed at a show prior to release. It just showed up. The first spy pics started to show up around mid 2002 and the complete product was not revealed until that fall. Also it was a late release in that they did not start hitting dealer lots until December. So based on the past I would not expect to see anything for a few more months.

It looks pretty sweet. Didn't they change the body on frame or to unibody...or some kind of hybrid?

Are jeeps GC reliable? I'm tired of driving my highlander(camry) and want to get back in a 4runner but I don't want to do it for the current outdated version. I might have to consider the Jeep if it's still a "truck" and since it looks like Toyota is dumbfounded about what to do with the beloved 4runner.

According to Consumer Reports magazine Grand Cherokkes are one of the most unreliable vehicles made. That and the fact that Chrysler may not survive equals no sale to me.

The Grand Cherokee has always been a unibody. They are unreliable. I came from a fully loaded 06 Hemi LTD ($44K MSRP) to a SR5 Runner and the Runner is better. If the new Grand is improved in quality I will buy one for next ride. I miss the Hemi HP (new one will be 360HP) but dont miss crap quality
 
Autoblog.com has a bunch of pictures posted on the new 2011 Grand Cherokee. I personally think it looks great...now where is our new 4Runner?

Yep, it has the same profile as the Rav4. I wouldn't say it looks any better than the US version...although none of the crossover vehicles appeal to me. Not rugged/tough enough.
 
Yeah I can see that now...Had me kinda fooled when i first saw it.

i bet thats what the new 4runner front end will look like, what does everyone else think?

You said Jeeps are unreliable (agreed) and that they have crap quality, but now you will "be in one" in eigtheen months. You are going to gamble on a new model with years of questionable reliability from a hurting company. Hmmmm. To each his own.
