Installed: 285's, spidertrax, duratracs, OME

Finally got everything installed yesterday. I only have a few pics since i've been busy with work. Let me say, 10 ply tires and 891's can be a little rough with no load in the rear. These tires are much more meaty in person. Ride is very smooth and not loud so far at all. Minor rubbing on the front bumper but I haven't trimmed anything yet. I'm working on getting pictures loaded up but I don't have a file sharing account so it may take a little while, unless someone would like to post them? :naughty:

And yes I know I should remove the running boards. Working on it.....

Those 285 Duratracs look pretty beefy on your truck. Looks great but it will look 10x meaner without the running boards :frog:
 
those tires look freakin mean on ur rig! ya getting rid of the running boards will make it look taller and compliment ur lift and tires for a more offroad look!

Yes, the Duratracs can be a little overwhelming at first with their aggressive sidewalls and tread, I know I was a little shocked when mine were installed. They seem to be a good tire though, I've had mine for a year and 10k and seem to be holding up well. Great choice!

Did you to a TO spacer as well in the front?

What's the big deal about ditching the running boards?? No offence Elton, or anybody else who's done this, but I think it's refreshing to see a rig that still has the running boards on it......too many mods being done that just copy off the next guy....just my 2 cents....and they are Canadian cents, so maybe not worth very much?? lol!

BTW, I love the way your rig looks with the Duratracs! How much did they set you back....if you don't mind me askin?

just because not many people have painted their 4runner pink doesn't mean i want to see it.

its a functional mod... running boards give you less clearance and easily get damaged by rocks and other offroad hazzards.

if you arent going offroad then it prob doesnt matter, or if you dont care if your truck looks 2 inches taller then leave it be, prob helps your passengers get in.

but if you are gonna go offroad, its necessary.

plus, if you sell them before they get damaged they are worth something, cant sell em after they got dented by a rock.

I don't think I'd like a pink 4Runner either! ha ha! But honestly, I just appreciate the rigs that have stuff that is original a lot more.....Just so long as it's executed well......At the end of the day, so long as you like your rig, that's all that matters.....
 
Thanks for the compliments guys. I want to see if I like it without the running boards. I'm sure I will but having them is kinda nice at times. The tires ride really well so far. They are not the kevlar tires, just the 10 ply duratracs. They were expensive and I couldnt find anyone to deal on them either. I ended up paying $951 installed including the spidertrax.

As far as the lift goes I only used trim packers front and rear, no top out spacers.
 
everytime I see the duratracs I like them more, the tread looks pretty aggresive but not quite to the point of a MT which I like. These are gonna be at the top of my list when I need some new rubber. Anyone compared them to BFG ATs? I wonder how they stack up???

Looking at the tread they're probably better in mud than BFG ATs but the duratracs will probably dig in sand, where the ATs excel. I think the BFGs would be better on rocks too, because even at 10psi, a 10 ply tire doesn't flex as much as a 3 ply tire.
I have never used either tire, I'm just making an educated guess on specs and tread pattern.
