Installed Muth Signal Mirrors

So if i went out and purchased the sport\limited side mirrors with the heat elements i can just bolt them in and I would have heated mirrors? I dont care about the signals, I really want the matching mirrors to my paint.

If you happen to remove your non-heated mirror housings, let us know if Toyota left a prewired harness in place to plug heated mirrors into... I'd like to have heated mirrors too, and it'd be nice if the wiring was already in place to plug and play!

I would def let you all konw, but I seriously doubt I am going to take my door apart anytime soon as time does not permit me to have a large block of time to do so!

I would really change my mirrors more for the color coding though. Heated mirrors would be a plus but I would rather have the color of the mirrors to match the rest of the truck.

If you decide to upgrade to the Limited mirrors, you can just follow the relevant parts of the Muth upgrade isntructions. I don't think it would take you more than 30 minutes per door.

I'm not concerned about the heated mirrors... as mentioned above, I am more concerned with the color matching. I was simply asking if the sport\limited mirrors would bolt on with no problem to my SR5...

The wiring for the heated mirrors is in place and active. Toyota even included the fuse!

Curiosity got the better of me, so I checked into my 2003 model. The wiring in the door appears to be there (harness to mirror) but not the wire in the main harness, so no power source. Checked the fuse box and there was nothing there, either.

Looks like they made a change from the early 2003 models to now.

Honestly, not a clue. Seems that they made numerous changes during the model year, so you never know.

It took less than 5 mnutes to check on the passenger side, no tools required except a flashlight to actually see what you're looking at.

My runner which was made in june of 2003 (must have been one of the last ones in the 2003 model year) is pre-wired for heated mirrors.

With that I am def going to switch them over to the limited mirrors before winter hits. Orginally i was only going to do it for the color matching, but now that I know I can get heated mirrors out of the deal, im psyched!


218 is the cheapest I have seen it. Anyone seen it cheaper?

also, the 218 set, does that come with the mirror or do I have to buy the mirrors seperate?

Interesting discussion guys, eventhough I thought I was going to be reading about turn signals and I don't need to replace my mirrors. ChuckyD, dam that was like 7 months between those two posts! Wow, good memory and glad to see you stuck with it.

I search for like an hour trying to find this thread. Yes it has been 7 months but over the summer my mirrors dont fog

last week, it was chilly and humid so my side mirrors were fogged and i was wishing i had those heated mirrors so that jared my whole memory. Also, the idea of making my mirrors match the rest of my runner has never left my mind.

Are heated mirrors std on sports and limiteds? Or was it an option on the two?
