installed OME 906 rear coils

I just swapped in a set of the Moog OEM replacements and ProComp ES3000 yesterday and still hitting the bump stop in parking lots. Got about a 1/4" lift which is about what I was expecting, but also the shocks are just waaaaay too soft and mushy.

Contemplating:
a) keep the Moogs and put in a set of Bilstein 24-024518
b) put in a set of 906 and the Bilstein 24-024518

Ugh.

The shocks alone will slow down the compression but will not add anything to load carrying capabilities or ride height. The stock coils are a 150# spring rate (the Moogs are probably the same). The OOME 906 has a spring rate of 220#.

Just put in 906's and Bilstein 5100's in the rear. Install was great, save for one broken bolt on the sway bar bracket. Drilled it, tapped it, good as new.

Rides great...got nearly 1.5" of lift in the rear. Now for the fronts!

I loved my 906 rear springs, totally changed the way the truck drove. No more squatting when accelerating, WAY less bodyroll, worked with stock struts, brake lines, etc. No downside IMO, this is the spring these trucks should have rolled off the assembly line with.

I sold them to a buddy, he loves them too, seems to mention them every time I see him, lol.

It's interesting, after driving it for a day now, it hardly looks lifted at all! I'll have to re-check, but it doesn't look quite like 1.5" of lift anymore.

I'm re-thinking the front now, though. I was going to go with 5100s and TRD coils. However, I think even on the lowest perch setting, they will be too tall to match the 906s. I do have some spacers I could put on top of the 906s, but I kind of like the rear where it is now. Hmmm...

The fronts definitely need to be changed, so I gotta do something! I already have the fron 5100s and tundra isolators, but have not bought coils yet.

Tundra 5100 and new trd coils on lowest perch maybe give 0.5" over old 99 talls, unsettled.

I measured 21.25" wheel center to limited fender with the tundra/5100 set up. I put my 99s back on and a new isolator, it measured identical until it settled.

Measure your center to fender height and post what you have please.

Trd tundra coils and the 5100s will be just fine with 906s.

I sold my 87 about a month ago and just bought a 2000 with 70k miles on it from my dad. i have a utility trailer that sags the back out a lot.

I'm interested in running this setup but am a bit concerned about the rake due to shorter springs then on a 2000 rather then a 99.

Has anyone with a newer then 99 done this? I don't have the money for a full lift right now.

well I got the itch again and installed 906 rear coils with the stock 99 coils up front. Bilstein HD at the 4 corners. 2 weeks ago, I towed my jet ski for the first time with my 4runner. Stopped by my parents house on the way home and my mom says "how come the back is soo low?" that was enough for me. After much contemplation ......ie spend 150 for some new coils.....or save up the 1000 clams for the 3" ultimate toytech. Got 'em last night and installed them right away. went from 35.5 ground to fender up to 36.75. gain of 1.25. just what i wanted. Rides nicer too. Will post pics in the daylight.

are the HD's the 4600's? or different? i was reading that there are 2 different 4600's; 2wd and 4wd units. i ordered the 4wd ones because they are cheaper. what is the difference and will they work on my 2wd or did i screw up the order?

I have an 01 with 906s and everything else stock. Kyb stock height shocks were put on about 1.5 years ago and 906s went in about a year ago. Has rake but doesnt look bad at all to me. I AM gonna throw some spacers up front soon tho. I will TRY to post a couple pics tomorrow. I love the improvement of tbe 906s

Are those 265/75/16 tires?

I'm interested in getting those size tires, and the 906s for towing and less sag in the rear, so your pic would give me a good estimate of what mine would look like.

nice truck and stance. what springs do you have in the front? i got under the rear to check things out and the upper hat looking bumper is 1/4 from the diff! i definitely need to replace this stuff! i already ordered billies just need coils. do i have to replace those hat looking insulators for the rear coils? i don't want to replace the coils then find out i needed to place those hats.
what about the fronts? do i have to replace the mounts? add a spacer to level the 906's?

Thanks. Stock front coils. By hat things I think u mean the bumpstops...if so...no need to replace them just reuse. The 906s have a left and a right. Put the taller one on the drivers side

ok thanks. yes the stops. i ordered 4600's for front and back. the fronts are listed as for 4wd only. is there a difference between the 2wd 4600 and 4wd 4600? if there is, then i screwed up my order.

Pretty easy install. Need a jack. Jack stands. And a socket set. Takes about an hour

done with the springs. very easy, 45 minutes. now, waiting for UPS to deliver my shocks.

finished. 906's and billies. i like the lift as well as the handling. fronts coming soon! will i need spacers in the front with the 99 talls? also, the right rear is 36 1/4 and driver side is 36 9/16. is that normal for one side to be higher?
