So I've had my 2001 boosted for about a year now with the stock 2.37" pulley getting about 7psi. I've purchased the URD 2.2" pulley half a year ago and also have the Supra 312cc injectors to go with it. I know the majority of the folks here use the URD 7th injector and I'm finding it very rare that someone has been using the SAFC option. I get it that you cannot retard timing with the SAFC but do you really need to at the power we are looking to get out of the 5VZ at 9.5psi....I don't think it's mandatory.
I've used an SAFC II in the past in a Toyota engine (1MZ boosted to 6psi making 240whp) with no issues at all for over three years before I sold the car.
I checked online and the ECU pinout diagram is no where to be found, I could purchase the Toyota 15$ subscription or also use the boomslang plug and play harness for the 2001 4runner wired specifically for the SAFC Neo: Boomslang Plug n Play Harness - APEXi AFC Neo - THMotorsports - Discount Performance Car & Truck Parts Sale | Lowest Price | Free Shipping
This is what I'm likely going to do.
I'll post my current AFR (cruise and WOT) with the stock pulley, no tune, stock injectors, walbro 190lph fuel pump and the free FMU mod.
Looking for comments on this approach, has anyone else gone down this path as well?
