I was looking around under the hood of my t4r today. I'm not that familiar with it and wanted to poke around. I was also trying to see if there was a good place to mount an on-board air system. I started wondering what mounting options an aftermarket intake would open up and noticed that the maf sensor appears to be integrated into the airbox neck. I also noticed that there is some type of post-filter before the maf in the airbox lid
I've seen other vehicles have a screen right in front of the MAF to help with turbulence and provide more consistent readings, but a filter that far away from the sensor seems awkward. Anyone tried removing it.... Probably not a big difference, but can't imagine why it would be needed.
Also curious how the aftermarket intakes relocate the MAF. I did not really study it , but maybe there is a way to remove it. All the ones I'm familiar with are a complete tube that just sit in the intake track as a coupler.
