Intake Resonator Delete & Big Problem for V8 Intakes

I decided to do the intake resonator delete fowling [MENTION=78727]gx470[/MENTION], [MENTION=45694]Blackout[/MENTION], [MENTION=98608]Dpassmore[/MENTION], and [MENTION=44706]calvin[/MENTION]8sr5. I considered the reasons not to do this as [MENTION=99382]ZiaMan[/MENTION] presented, but because my 2004 has a TRD Supercharger I didn’t think that the Pressure Wave Harmonics would be a problem.
The mod went great except I cut a ½” the hose on the intake side and 3 1/2” from one side and 4” from the other end of the 90 to give a little more clearance and to make the tube straighter. I used tape to give me an edge or straight line to cut and also measure the correct distance. To make the clamps fit I sprayed a little soapy water on the inside of the clamp to allow it move into the right place.

This cheap modification has saved me some money too. I was planning to upgrade the JBL system, but for now I just turn the radio off to listen to the supercharger sing it’s beautiful song.

V8 Stock Intake Problem

I also found a problem that every 4th Gen V8 owner needs to look for. After removing the factory intake hose I noticed the crankcase hose connection was cracked! This truck has only 60,000 miles, but it is 12 years old. So whether you plan to do this modification or not, please check to make sure this hasn’t happened to your 4Runner too.

It looks trick, sounds great and MIGHT add .1 mpg and 2 hp.

Not yet. The plan is to check this weekend on the SR5 and catch the 03 4WD and extra parts after Christmas. I just found it odd that the lowest mileage one I have split. To be clear this cracked on the bottom, completely out of site. Not something you take off very often.

Looks good! (especially the supercharger :thumb3 You tagged the wrong blackoutt, I have two T's from when I started on the audi forums 10 years ago in a TT. I don't have the cracked fitting on my intake either, 117k miles.

I have a trd supercharger as well. Have you done any tuning? Are you using the trd piggyback? I just got a map ecu 3. Looking for a base map to start with.

I did this mod on a 00'

and felt that this mod combined with a poor mans cat-back improved throttle response. Id like to remove the extra chambers and ridges that disturb the air flow but retain the fender connection instead of going the CAI route.

I just purchased this truck last year with 58,000 on it. I can only assume it's all stock.

This is a waste of time. The air goes through a butterfly valve before the engine. Any negligible improvement from the ridge removal is negated by the turbulence the butterfly induces on the fluid - even at WOT.

great job guys, glad I could help. For the record, we are not saying that this will add 5 or 10hp, what I am saying about this is that it at least changes the sound on throttle.
