So I have been a member on T4R for about 6 months now. Reading, learning and applying. In July, I finally bought my 99 SR5 V6 4WD with 155k on the clock. It was a Maryland car for most of it's life. Since then I have done a tune-up, replaced snapped sway bar end links and other odds and ends. Still need to do front sway bar bushings but that's another issue.
Yesterday, I was on my way to my accounting exam at my university. Just another casual ride till my 4runner's back end made a snapping sound and the back end kicked out. I babied it into my parking spot and after my exam checked it out. Hoping it was just a end link that went. Come to find out, My LR shock had snapped off of the body due to corrosion towards the top.
Needless to say, A little extra attention will be payed towards these maintenance items due to where it originated from.
(Pics to follow once I get home and install my Monroe replacement shocks.)
