Introduction/Noob Questions

I know there is a Intro section, Good in theory bad in practice as I don't see much response in that section. So I'm gonna ruin my reputation before I start by posting here.

I just picked up a gem. 98 133k miles 3rz mated to a 5spd, 4WD, clean and with power options. I prefer the 2.7 over V6. I prefer working on my own stuff and when it comes down to the "nit n' grit" I much rather work with one bank of cylinder vs 2. Plus the room. I never grew up wanting to be a contortionist.

Here she sits as I took the fam out for Memorial weekend, I've already added the wheels/tires and the Yakima rack since it was on my truck. Since then I swapped the wheels back to stock, but have a set of FJ wheels and tires soon to be mounted. Just weighing if I want the stock tires or go ahead and mount a more capable tire.

I was really dead set on getting a shipped HJ60 as I would love a diesel. But juggling the ability to find parts lead me into the craigslist search and this was first on the list.

Here is my Pickup that I just prepped for selling.

It has the 22RE. Compared to the 3rz it is Black and white! Night and day, ying and yang.

I've been lurking and just signed up today during lunch.

Since I've owned the vehicle I've adjusted the clutch pedal free play, the throttle cable slack.
I had the infamous P0170 code and cleaned out the MAF sensor. no issue now! Thanks to this forum.

My rear hatch is mis-aligned slightly and makes contact (dent) into the roof. I think that is just a matter of re aligning it, but is that a recurring problem in the community?

My power outlets don't work at all, front or back. Checked all fuses. in cab/engine bay. do the plugs themselves have an in-line fuse?

About the wheels...and tires. I'm going to ask...not what is the largest tire you can stuff under stock lift....cause that is posted everywhere.

What is the tallest/skinniest tire on 17 inch rims you can stuff under a stock runner, or what is the tallest/skinniest you can fit under the spare? (deflated)

As far as the 12v outlets not working, each one has a small fusible link built in. There is a write up somewhere on one of the forums about how to remove the link. Or you can just replace the whole outlet, I think that I paid about $15 each at a local dealership.

Part number is 85530-06010.

Don't give up on HJ61, they can be brought over for under $6k. Or you could do a RD28T Nissan Patrol. In fact, for the first year ever, HDJ81's are now legal to import! Or you could just do a conversion

I think a conversion is more likely, with my pickup I was close to pulling a trigger on the OM617 Mercedes 300TD with the kit from tdswaps.com

My buddy did the conversion on his 2wd pickup. swapped the turbo, crank the psi/fuel pressure up, meth injection. mad powaa.

Though currently I am really happy with the 3rz.
