Intruder's build and off road pics thread

I never have given much thought about going to Canada, but after looking at your thread it's on my bucket list. Great job on the photography..... as always.
 
Didn't someone around here say they'd damaged the fender trim on their TE recently?

Have you hit up Nathan? He's a stand-up guy and he tries to do the right thing for his customers so let him know your story and that your waiting since being caught in the middle...the least he can do is start building one for you and hold it until you get past the insurance claim so you aren't waiting way too long. My bumper came damaged due to the shipper and he gave me the immediate option of paying for it to be re-powder coated or he would reimburse me fully for the cost of his powder coat.

Yeah, we had an interesting mix. An 81, four LCs, a 1st gen Taco, 2nd gen Taco, 4th gen T4R, and a 5th gen.

I didn't purchase directly from CBI but through a local shop. It gets too expensive to have something big like a bumper shipped individually up here. The shop is working on it though.

Seriously though, it's really annoying, some ******* from Texas (they're always from Texas, not sure why) will buy a few hundred acre parcel that includes all of the roads/trails into tens or hundreds of thousands of acres of NFS/BLM land, then illegally gate/chain all the roads. Unless enough people make a stink, the NFS/BLM just goes with it.

This was an abandoned open pit coal mine, that's what the lake is in the later pics. I think the gate is there mainly to keep people away from the cliffs, though it's been unlocked and open for weeks now.

Does it ever work to contact and work with the new landowners? I would be fired up over someone doing that to through roads that i used.

Seriously though, I hate that the most obnoxious, arrogant, stereotypes of Texans have forever turned the entire State of Colorado against us. I just like to escape our sauna like summer climate for some refreshing time in the mountains, with the only indicator that I am from Texas being my license plate.:)

I guess it depends on whether you're dealing with an individual or a company. Companies are almost always going to say no, because they don't want to risk any liability. Without turning this into an access thread, here's what works for me when I'm trying to access a river through private land to go fishing. Go to the landowner and ask, take off your hat and your sunglasses when you do and don't have music blaring out of your vehicle. Be as polite as you can, chat them up a little without taking up too much of their time. If they say no, there isn't a lot you can do and if you act rude about it you can pretty much guarantee that they'll never say yes to anyone in the future either. If they do say yes, make sure to thank them and ask what they want you to do with any gates. Usually if a gate is closed when you get there, close it behind you and if it's open then leave it open. Drive through the land quickly without being loud or raising any dust, and obviously don't leave any garbage behind or disturb livestock. If you go back, ask for permission again even though they said yes last time. Bring them a six pack or something to thank them for the last time. Eventually they'll probably tell you that you can just go through without asking every time if it's somewhere you go often. Still not a bad idea to bring them something every few times as it's a small price to pay.
