If it's scratched or dinged you should post every possible cause and detail you can imagine.

Ok, exploring pics!
The off road group I'm part of has a team that goes out to find new trails and pre-run them before the larger group goes. This way we can determine vehicle requirements for the trail run, if the trail is even passable, and if it's worth doing. I was recently asked to join this team and the first scouting mission was in my favourite place - Crowsnest! Needless to say I didn't need much convincing. So [MENTION=63060]rickashay[/MENTION], another friend, and I headed down Saturday evening to check out a couple of trails we heard about.
We camped in one of our usual spots then hit the highway first thing in the morning to get to the first trail.
I've photographed this mountain so many times and never get tired of it.

Once we got to our destination we saw this pond and had to get the mirror pic.

That wire you see is indeed for my winch controller. Wasn't too bad, just got a little high centred going from one mud hole to another.

Going back down was much faster as there was no winching (rickashay got bogged down in some deep mud that he had to winch out of as well). So on to the second trail. It was more of a gravel road with some potholes, but some major washouts from the floods last year provided a couple of interesting obstacles.

We had heard that this trail leads all the way to Waterton national park but unfortunately we came to a complete washout that left the trail so narrow even riding a bike across it would've been sketchy. But that's the nature of exploring. We recorded a few offshoot trails from the main one that we didn't have time to explore, but we'll go back for them...

Had one on my TJM winch and it was flaky as hell. I'm sure that Warn probably makes a better one, but I just don't trust them as much as direct wired for something like that.

Any word on what's going on with your CBI rear bumper?

Maybe, but I wouldn't rely on it. Just means more batteries to carry around.
Long story. Short version is that the shop I ordered through added the light bucket option, which I didn't want so they ordered me a new one with the right options.

A small group of us does a guys' weekend in Crowsnest every October were we attempt to run a trail called Daisy end to end. We did the whole thing two years ago, but we had three days to do it. This year we only had two days and ran into a lot of adversity.
A few of us left early on Friday, so we decided to take the long way down aka the forestry trunk road. First sign of adversity can be seen in the background.

Ok, so I was getting shots of this 3rd gen flexing out. I ended up missing shots immediately after this as he decided to drive into the rut. I watched both his driver's side tires lift a few inches off the ground before touching down again. So close to a flop, but luckily it wasn't.

We did run into some snow on the trail, muddy conditions, cold nights, and fallen trees but that isn't what stopped us from completing the trail. When we got close to the spot where we were planning to camp the second night, we encountered a new sign - no trespassing. An Australian mining company bought rights in the area and immediately shut down sections of trail and even a road to public access. The exit to the second section of the trail, the area we planned on camping at, along with the entrance to the third section of the trail all fall in this property. So unfortunately we've now lost three trails that I know of to this mining company. Welcome to Alberta, where resource extraction trumps all else.

Great photos as always! Every time I look at your thread I realize I need to get the TE&S and 101 courses done so I can get out and join in the fun, especially for the trips down in this area. Getting to Calgary for the rights days has been the tricky part.
It's a shame about the mining rights and associated closures. Losing trails sucks.

Well unfortunately CT4WD is shutting down. Should be an official announcement on the forum soon.
Not sure if it's monitored, but they had obviously graded part of the trail and were using it as an access road. Not worth a trespassing charge and fine either way. I'm sure they care about people on the land for liability issues.

Neither actually. Lots of little things and a few bigger ones that built up over the past year and the guy who started it just got fed up.
