I can confirm that:
iPhone 3gs on 4.1 now works flawlessly with BT streaming
(Steering wheel controls work, next song, etc) You can't see the song that's playing on the NAV screen, however, you can just play and pause.
I can also confirm that since I set my pairing codes the same (my bluetooth audio and phone) that my phone also works with Handsfree at the same time. (bonus!) So, if I'm streaming music from my iphone and I get a call, the audio fades down and I can answer the phone with my steering wheel as normal. When I end the call, the bluetooth audio comes back up. The sound quality seems to be very good to me.
Also, the USB port in the glovebox works flawlessly with my 3gs on 4.1. I can see the songs, shuffle thru them, etc.
It seems the 4.1 update fixed a lot of these wierd bluetooth bugs.

(TIP: To set the pairing codes the same on the NAV system. - Touch Setup, then audio, then bluetooth, then set the code to '1212' which is the same as the default phone pairing code.)
