Is 2WD '08+ better than 2WD '07-?

Hey all, my Dad likes my T4R so much he wants to get a 4th gen for himself - the thing is he's not worried about it having 4WD or not and almost all the ones for sale around here are 2WD anyway. I'm aware that starting in '08 all T4R's got the coveted VSC OFF switch, but I'm confused about what impact it had if any for 2WD V6 models - are they better in mild off-road conditions than the '07 and earlier 2WD versions? There's something on J.A.'s site that talks about the addition of an "Auto LSD", I copied an excerpt below. I remember off-roading once and seeing an early 4th gen 2WD get stuck in sand where having an LSD, even if simulated and not a real one, would probably have been enough to get him through. Did all 2WD's come with an "Auto-LSD" from the get go but susceptible to the VSC cutting the throttle where having the switch would come in handy or was the Auto LSD not even added until '08? I've searched the forum but have had no luck. I'm hoping the '08+ is at least a smidgen better and would at least prevent my Dad from getting stuck at the beach which is the only "off-roading" he'll ever do.

Brake Control System - A VSC OFF switch is used on all models.
An Auto LSD function is added to the brake control system for the 1GR-FE engine 4WD models. The VSC OFF switch can select the 3 modes...Normal mode, TRAC-OFF mode, VSC-OFF mode. On the 2WD models, the Auto LSD function operates when the TRAC-OFF mode is selected. On the 1GR-FE engine 4WD models, the Auto LSD function operates when the 4WD control switch is at the “H2” position and the TRAC-OFF mode is selected.
