Is anybody else experiencing swaying back and forth on the highway?

Since I bought my 2010 trail edition, I have been experiencing swaying back and forth on the highway. Its especially worse when its windy to the point that I am white knuckling the steering wheel. Is anybody else feeling this? Is this normal? I was told that this is because the traction control is on and when the wind blows the truck to one side the traction control kicks on and moves it the other way.

Please post any and all replys. Its at the point where the truck does not feel safe at highway speeds.

Wow, nope I havent experienced that at all. In fact, this weekend I was dragging a trailer (3200#) and it was solid. Even with 20-30 mile an hour winds.

That sounds really weird, what tires? Standard Toyota issue?
 
I had a 3.5 hour trip last friday and I didn't feel such problems, I have an SR5 btw so I do not know if the different suspension setup of the Trail makes a difference.
 
swaying

On my Limited, I experience swaying on groved highways where the grooves are parallel with the road and approximately 2" apart. High winds does not seem to be a factor on mine. However, the drive train is difference on your trail. Mine gives me white nuckels as well.
 
I bought a 2011 Limited 3 weeks ago and it sways all over the road on windy days. Usually I do 70-75mph. Didn't have this problem with my X5. The 4runner is more boxier so its expected but it is really bad compare to the X5.

Yup, the standard Dunlop piece of craps
 
What did you drive before the 4Runner? If your used to driving a low slung car, I could see it being very noticeable. I grew up driving vans and trucks, so getting blown into the next lane was common for me. As for my 2010 Trail, I've never noticed any "extraordinary" wind issues.
 
Yep, 11 TE and felt it all day yesterday on a 110-mile roundtrip to grandma's... Anything over 45mph and it was noticeable. I didn't have it in my 08 Limited...

I drove a 2003 nissan xterra since 2003. I could feen wind on that as well but not like this.
 
Swaying in high winds

I have a 3rd gen and had the same problem. I recently upgraded to BFG LT265/75/16's and I could tell a huge difference upgrading to 3 ply sidewall tires! Hope that helps...

I just took an 11-hour drive this weekend and I can definitely feel sway on the highway. Specifically over 70mph and when it is windy. It is new to me, but I figured not new to owning a truck.

I drove muscle cars before this, so I chalked it up to normal for large trucks like others have already said.

truck feels more stable when stock tires are at about 35psi. But wind would still affect it as any other boxy SUV.
