I've spent the last 2 weeks looking for a deal on a 2015 4Runner.
These 2 discussions were excellent regarding how to access the cost and dealer profit.

And it seemed like the marketing fee was generally considered to be a valid fee. At least in 2010, that one paid one way or another and the cash was sent to the regional office for promotion advertising.
I contacted 4 different dealers, all in the same Toyota region and received 5 different values for TDA. Yup, one dealer quoted me 2 different TDAs on the vehicle inquiry report on different occasions.
They range from a low of $621 to $808. All on the same vehicle & options.
Is this marketing fund now just another way to disguise profit, now that people have accepted it as legitimate?
