Is this a 2003 Sport? How do I tell?

It just came to my mind, but did Toyota even offer the Sport Edition in white for 2003? I have never seen any white sport with the cladding. I know you could have gotten one in 2004 and 2005, but I don't remember it being offered in 2003. Can anybody confirm this?

Arn't the Sport Edition rotors larger? Wow, its surprising how much I remember now..

Yup, Sport Editions come with bigger brakes. Heck, SR5 4Runners with 16" wheels barely have enough clearance.

I also realized some more things about that car:
1) Early 2003 Sport Editions couldn't be had in white. Think about it, ever seen a white Sport Edition with cladding? Only after Toyota included color painted body cladding could you get an SE in white.
2) Sport Editions with cladding also had a silver painted grille in addition to the door handles and rear license plate garnish trim.
3) Sport Editions have charcoal colored seats.

I have been reading this read over the last day or two and I must say I am impressed by the reasoning and knowledge of this group. Coming from a 3rd generation model, I really had no idea if this 4Runner was a Sport or not. Good going.

Now as far as that idiot that is trying to sell that Sport edition....:xnuts: :whipping2 :behead:

I don't know what he was trying to accomplish (maybe he's clueless like me).
His price is still very competitive when it comes to a used 4runner. He's asking 21900 for it with 36000 miles on it. That Kelly blue book private party value in excellent condition. I'll have to see for myself if it is in "excellent condition."

My 03 Runner is the same as the one pictured. White with gray cladding SR5 4WD but on my insurance it is listed as 4Runner Sport SR5 4WD .... this guy might be going off of something like that. I would ask him why he thinks his 4Runner is a sport, hey you never know!

Mine is like that too, it says SR5/Sport Edition. This is because insurance is done using the VIN number and SR5's and Sports have the same 7th digit, a 4 while Limiteds have a 7 as the 7th digit.

Example: JTEZU14R030000000 is an SR5/Sport while JTEZU17R030000000 is a Limited

Update:

So, I did end up looking at the white SR5 (not really Sport Edition) vehicle, and honestly it was trashed with the interior. I did take it for a drive to see how it handled, and coming from the Durango, I am amazed. I still would not of paid 22k for this vehicle. Nasty kids and nasty adults have done nasty things to this poor 4Runner.



I am going to fly to Houston from Denver Friday morning to buy a 2003 Sport Edition with 25k miles on it (asking 24K). I looked at a similar sport edition in Denver, without leather, and the dealer was asking 31K for it. Much cheaper to buy an SUV from Texas, and then drive back to Denver. Pics are below of it.

Nice choice with the 2003 Galactic Grey sport. You don't see too many of those around with the cladding. The picture you posted is 100% Sport Edition!
