Is this Runner a good choice?

I know. I'm not giving them more than 8200 with tax, title, etc.

The price doesn't seem jacked up to me. It is well below KBB suggested dealer price and in line with private party value. It is also in line with NADA retail value. You have some hell of negotiating to do if you expect to get it for $8200 out the door. I used to be in the car business and I am not going to say it won't happen but if it does, then he is in this particular truck real good and has been sitting on it for a long time. Chances are he would be losing money at $8200 OTD.

What would you pay for that 4Runner? I may try for 8800-9100.

The least I could. lol

I am not saying I wouldn't try and talk him down as low as you can.
What I am saying though is don't walk away from a good deal because you have this idea of what you are willing/wanting to pay.

Somewhere between NADA and KBB is fair deal and anything below that is a good deal.

So what happened? Did you get it?

I haven't gotten it yet. I may get it some time this week. If not, I'm going to look at a 99 at SR5 auto brokers. I think my mom is trying to surprise me with it on thanksgiving since my 18th birthday was Friday. Her gift to me was co signing a loan. Which I'm gonna use on a new 4Runner.

Anyway, I drove out to Shelbyville and test drove it. I had forgotten how good it feels to drive a stock rig. My dad has a stock 2002 that I drive every once in a while. But his has 200k. This one has 96k, and I could definitely tell a difference. I looked it over pretty well. Turns out the charcoal canister was replaced. So the CEL won't be an issue. Hasn't had the timing belt recently. But it still has about 20k left on it. No rust anywhere. Everything in the interior worked like a charm. Antenna even works! The multimode works great also. I'm really psyched about this Runner. It's probably the cleanest 3rd gen I've seen.
