Is Your Back Wiper Totally Useless?

Anyone else have this problem? My rear wiper will glide right over the water / washer fluid / whatever for about 2 - 3 times, and then I'll hear it "catch", and then it'll start wiping.

Mine did this when new. The blade would stick in the position corresponding to how it sits when parked. When the wiper was turned on, the blade would not swivel to the correct angle to sit flush against the back window. I examined it, saw the problem, and worked the blade back and forth a few times. This fixed whatever was causing it to stick, and it has worked fine ever since.

I think it works good , I only use it when I need to clean the window off , never turn it on and leave it on during the rain , really dont see a purpose for that.

I have to use my rear wiper here in snow, slush and mag chloride country. The rear wiper is one of the few things my ex-Explorer did better. It had to do with the pattern of the spray and the wiper would run faster. In any case the 4R rear wiper on both of our 4Rs is next to useless. It's a wonder I haven't crashed into something going forward when I'm trying to get the rear window cleared. It act likes it's on barbituates.

I have NEVER used it!
Its weurd, but one of my major pet peeves as far as my truck or any car of mine goes, I CANT STAND WIPER MARKS....
Especially over time, when the window where the wiper cant rech, has gnar hard water stains. I try to use my front wipers as little as possible, i guess im weird :-D

Same here. I have back seat and shotgun passengers telling me to use the wipers when it rains or snows.

I probably will never find out if my rear wiper works or not, because the spoiler does a fine job keeping the rear window clear.

Three. I don't even use the front wipers. That's why I use Rain-X.

We had some snow and light rain today and I noticed that the rear wiper moves super sloooooooow. But I actually didn't have to use it much because the spoiler keeps the back window pretty clean

So make that 4 of us

Well, I have a sport with no rear spoiler so maybe they do help although my wife's 04 does and I have same problem with it. Think I'll try the Rain-X - haven't used it in years.

The other thing I discovered when I changed the wiper blade is that the metal supports have a built-in curvature that can't be reversed. (Yes, even though I don't use the wiper, I changed the blades in case someone else drives it.)
