No idea what the two have to do with each other but I only notice the "thud" when the AC compressor is on. Maybe the GX's have auto climate control that can't be manipulated manually. I never use the "Auto" feature because it runs the compressor no matter what temp it is. Gas prices are too high for that nonsense.

Personally, I'd wait a couple of months to see if the TSB really solves the problem. Lexus (which effectively IS Toyota) is quick to issue TSB's just to address complaints, but they don't always solve the problem. Cases in point are the 04 RX 330 dash rattles and the driver's window wind noise. TSB's were issued for both, but they didn't find the true cause for several more months and then the TSB's were re-issued.LSUMBA said:
Since some lube makes the clunk go away for a little while, I'd wait to see if the TSB solves the problem for longer than that. If the people on ClubLexus say it's solving the problem, then yes, I'd take the TSB to the Toyota dealer and get in line for the new parts.

Wait a few months to see if this is indeed the solution before pissing off your local Toyota dealer. I will keep you guys updated if I hear anything. BTW the AC will make the cluck worst also because of the higher RPM.
I started this thread and I'll tell you , this thud thing is getting DAMN old and fast.....
I had my truck in for OLF maint. , but even after the grease job it still thunk's,almost seem's a little worse. I also find it embarassing when having people in the truck......come on Toyota get off your arse !!

I know what you're saying - the thunk is getting old. Make sure they lubricate the slip joint via ZERK fitting. That always fixes it for me for a few weeks - then comes back.
You can minimize it by coming to a stop more slowly and releasing and re-applying the brake pedal once you hit 10mph. The will prevent the slip joint from binding up too much.
Hope Toyota releases a TSB for this soon...
