:). been working on this one, Its in. just a few minor things to finish up. Trail gear adapters and trail gear 23 spline 4.7's

You're gonna be creepin' all over things now :D

I debated duals for a while. Requires a sh!t ton of work. Good luck with everything!

Ohh I see why you ask steezemcqueen for the crawler!!!

Waiting for your first impressions!!!!

Cheers

It wasnt that much work. THe trail gear stuff fit nicely. the clearance on the gas tank and rear cross member is close but it fits in there just fine. i put the crawler in then put the tcase on the back of it and it was easy.

Ill get some pics under it soon.

And first impressions, its exactly what i wanted. I took it out behind the house and its perfect. I drove a buddys rig with a similar setup wheeling a few weeks back and knew what i was getting into with the 4.7's in the crawler. its perfect for the 5spd. Its been in for a few days but i have been busy with other things. I have put probably 50 miles on it. it had a slight leak at first. i re torqued the bolts and that went away. It seems completely leak free now

the last thing im dealing with is final adjustments on my pinion angle because i ditched the double cardan joint on the rear d-shaft. It was toast and needed replacing. Since this is just a wheeling rig i opted out of spending any money on that. So i had to adjust the pinion down to match the tcase output. im still 1.5˚ too high and have a very slight vibe. ill get that all adjusted here in the next week and it should be good to go. At least now 1 u joint fits every location on the truck now

let the destruction of cv's begin:driving: congrats. how much cheaper is this than the marlin setup.

im at $980 for the adapters and 4.7 gears shipped to my door. then a donor tcase ($100) so $1080 for trail gear. $2000 for marlin for the equivalent low range plus tax and shipping on 2g's which will end up about $2200 for it to the door.

If you wanted to use the 2.28's you could do it for $800 with trail gear stuff.

Trail gear also has a lifetime warranty on all the parts i bought so im not worried about it

that's so awesome. for what you pay with marlin you can get the inchworm lefty for the same price. ridiculous. won't the 4.7's put some strain on that chain driven case?

You have any shots of how you squeezed by the tank? I for sure thought doing this I would have had to do the f150 swap. Also, what it cost you for a custom driveshaft?

If you search that you come up with the general consensus that that chain drive case is pretty strong. The only issues are with snapping input shafts. They are the old school 23 spline so to start its a pretty strong input shaft. Its kind of short. But seem fine. Our tcases are have a planetary gear low range thats plenty strong, and the play in the chain can help from shock loading the gears. People have broke them and or stretched chains but still there are plenty of people running a 4.7 crawl box infront of a taco case with 40's and larger and they hold up.

No way on the tank swap, there is plenty of room. I bolted on that crawl box, then the tcase to that once it was in the truck. Ill try and get you some pictures. My d-shafts cost $330. it would have been around $250 is the double cardan was still good. Because it wasnt i added the cost of a ujoint and drive flange The cost from my local guy is $75 per shaft plus tubing.

Im in the new issue of 4wd toyota owner again!!! This time with all my good friends. My good buddy john got the cover of the mag in a camo taco with a tube bed. THe pics are from a september rubicon trip and we were lucky enough to have Joel Moranton from 4WD TO come along and do a nice feature on the trip. Im stoked. Thats 2 issues in a row! hahaha :)

Check out my pile in these pics from the issue

That's sweet Jason! You guys are all famous now! You guys need to get that guy to tag along on some of the Hammers trails!

Congrats on all those shifters too! I need to regear and throw in an arb up front if want to have a chance of following you guys around now!

Hey nice 4runner man! What kind of wheels are those?

thanks. they are MB Blitz. I dont know if they are still made. They were something like $75 each from americas tire about 6 years ago. They hold up really well.

They are 16x8 with 3.75" backspacing
