J-money build thread

thanks. they are MB Blitz. I dont know if they are still made. They were something like $75 each from americas tire about 6 years ago. They hold up really well.

They are 16x8 with 3.75" backspacing

yea you should let me take those off your hands lol. as much wheeling as you're doing may as well go to steel. i was gonna ask you btw. any good spots you recommend for camping around your neck of the woods?

I doubt steelies would hold up as well. I want beadlocks but now im going to just run these as long as i can. Maybe they will never break. But i think if I keep it up ill snap an edge off.

And as far as camping goes there are tons of great camping spots. Depends where you actually want to go and or do. Silverwood lake has a bunch of camp spots.

Mojave River Forks camp ground is nice and its off the beaten path. Flush bathrooms if i remember.

Then calico, which is nice right now and free to camp off mule canyon road.

Johnson valley is always nice. Cougar buttes and soddy dry lake have pit bathroom and its all free. Nows the time but unless you wheel its kinda boring

There are a couple cool free campgrounds by wrightwood that are great in the summer.

And as always i like hitting up the yellow post sites in big bear on the north side. They are free and most of them are in real nice areas.

I try and camp every weekend. Somtimes it doesnt work out but i usually go most weekend. So free matters.

yeah i've always wanted to hit up calico, looks like a fun place to wheel. i'm almost done with my 4x4 conversion so i'll be in that area sooner than later.

im at $980 for the adapters and 4.7 gears shipped to my door. then a donor tcase ($100) so $1080 for trail gear. $2000 for marlin for the equivalent low range plus tax and shipping on 2g's which will end up about $2200 for it to the door.

If you wanted to use the 2.28's you could do it for $800 with trail gear stuff.

Trail gear also has a lifetime warranty on all the parts i bought so im not worried about it

When I look up these parts they come up more than 980. The gears are showing 599 and the dual case adapter is 399, and dont you need an adapter from the tranny to the crawlbox?

Just wondering becuase i'm researching and saving :)

thanks

Try low range off road. They are a trail gear dealer and they are much cheaper than buying direct. The 4.7 gears were $450 i believe and the pair of adapters was around $515. I did happen to land on a sale as well, plus free shipping on the gears. and $20 to ship the adaptors.

Man... the Rubicon would be awesome to run. Do you guys have any trips planned coming up soon? With the threat of strike at work, that means vacation time for me :P

Thanks I did find their prices are lower, which I think is weird because you would think direct would be cheaper. Oh we'll, thanks for the info.

Thanks... i saw on the last page where u said what they were... i was asking because i picked some up...but already sold them to Frank

Some sweetness from this last weekend.

Broke the lower ball joint bolts. Actually appears 2 fell out and 2 broke off. I just torqued these 2 weeks ago because they were finger tight. put 50 miles on it and then this. I assume the loose bolts got fatigued. I was able to get one of the broke pieces out with some wire cutters. and slapped some random bolts in it and drove home. Good thing the seat bolts are the same thread :) as well as the trans mount and my crawl box mount.

Im lovin the new fender styling. I gotta get a pic of my sweet body work C-clamps, pry bar and a hammer is all you need. The only reason i even bent it back is because the fender was keeping the door from opening and it was laying slightly ontop of the hood. Now that this is bent let the destruction of this thing begin :)

Some beach....

I do like the innovativeness on the finding identically threaded bolts to get you home.

The Runner just has more character now :D
