So interesting issue here...

In preparation for my CO's arriving on wednesday I was taking inventory of my Icon box pile. Some of the boxes I had not opened simply because of being busy or not being home when they arrived and just forgetting about them. SO, as it turns out...I have 3 rear shocks...haha. I bought one from Metal-Tech and one from Outlaw Off Road, both of these orders were drop shipped from ICON so I am not sure which company screwed up (Metal-Tech, Outlaw, or ICON) as all the packing slips only list Icon's info and a single shock. My guess is ICON just put two shocks in the box because that is what they are used to doing. Also this was months ago so I am not to sure how to proceed...



Anyone need a 2.5" Piggyback? Haha

I know you may need some help with installation in the future. We could work out some labor for the shock?
 
Icon Stage 6

My coil-overs arrived today! Which means....My Stage 6 is now complete!

I keep all my records for the 4runner in a spreadsheet on my computer, and here is a shot of my suspension section for anyone interested in where I got the discounts and what the bottom line on this was:

Check these pages a few times a week and you can grab a good deal usually.

Also I got the parts that don't come up for sale usually from Sean at Outlaw off-road, he is a super nice guy and gives away some great prices.

Everything I have is new with the exception of the UCA's. The Icon Scratch and Dent stuff is technically not "new" but I have yet to find a scratch on any of the parts I got from them, it all looks brand new!

Price break down:
Best price I have seen on this kit (without a sale) is Metal-Tech at 4,918.67 (MSRP before tax on Icon's site is $5,436.43). So I got a savings of about 1150.00 over Metal-Techs price, and about $1800.00 over MSRP (which should roughly cover the cost of install and then some).

Was is worth it?:
I think so, if you have the time, (this took me about 6 months to collect) then you can get some good savings. I wasn't in a hurry to get my suspension on so this was perfect for me.

This isn't going to get installed until early October, when I have time to get my truck to Bobby's shop. But until then...I have a nice collection of stickers to decide what to do with...

Not to much going on lately since I have moved back to school for the semester. Lift, along with new wheels and tires (285x70x17 Duratracs) are scheduled to get installed at Ducmonstas shop during the first few weeks of October.

The TE conversion is on hold until I have the time to complete it (and the funds to get the bumpers painted...tri-coats are quite expensive...).

In the meantime, I am a little hung up on my wheel choice. I have been talking to Duc about this and was set on the Ultra Gauntlets, but I now may be falling back into the Konig trap.

So here are my choices.

Konig 17X9 Six Shooter:

The Ultra's are of course attractive because they are very cheap and a lot of people here have them. But I think one of the Konigs will compliment the truck a bit better. I am a big fan of things looking good, while being understated. I don't like flashy or busy wheels, so I just want something to compliment the overall look of the truck and work together with everything else to be pleasing to the eye.

I think the smooth spokes of the six shooter or Countersteer Type X will work well with the Bud Built sliders and Gobi Stealth. Thoughts?

Jang, I agree, either of the Konig's should look good, but I'm biased in favor of Konig since I own Countersteer X. The Konigs have much cleaner lines than the UGs.
 
I say go for the gauntlets! Cause I've been eyeing the six shooters haha :hungry: Those or the Method 301s

But in all seriousness, I believe the Konigs would keep your rig looking classy.

I think the angular lines of the Gauntlets matches well with the more defined, angled lines of our runners. The drawback about these wheels is they are very heavy compared to the Konigs. I really like the Six Shooters over the Countersteer X. Either way, your selected wheel choice is tasteful and will compliment the aesthetics of your truck very well. Not many here have the Shooters, I would go for those!
 
Thanks for all the input guys. I think I am going to wait a few days to see what the Six Shooters look like on adio3x's truck. Based off that I will decide. But right now I'm leaning toward the Six's much more than the Type X. A bit more expensive, but worth it for the weight difference, and cleaner look in my opinion.
 
So I went rouge on everyone...

...and ended up with the Counterteer Type-X in Matte Black.

Dustin from FN wheels was awesome to work with and really
helped me out getting these wheels. They just shipped today
and should be at my door late next week!

I sent my Billet Aluminum UCA's back to ICON to rebuild them
just to make sure everything was ok with them. They are replacing
the uni-balls (from the old stainless + chrome to the newer solid
stainless uni-balls), the posts to make sure my threads are good,
and also any of the hardware that was rusted at all. So they should
look pretty much like new I hope. Brad over at Icon has been really
helpful as well.

I'm headed to Duc's shop on the 8th-9th with a truck loaded down
with suspension parts and wheels! I'm starting to get excited!

Last thing I have to get is my Duratracs, 285x70x17's. Anyone know if there
are any deals out there on them? I haven't been able to find anything so far.
 
I posted this a few times already but don't overlook your local Goodyear store. Mine matched the best online price (Tire Rack at the time), added insurance, lifetime balancing (really needed with this tire), 6 month no interest and a $ 160 Visa gift card. It seems GY offers rebates on different tires every few months so keep checking their site.

Awesome! Can't wait to get down there next week! I am actually planning on staying the night. I'm going to take my bike, and a tent in a backpack and head down to the battlefield (Manassas) for the day. Then I can see the sites, camp and head back up in the morning. Should be a nice two days.

I didn't plan for it, but it looks like it's going to work out that way! It just so happened that this Monday and Tuesday are my only two days free until Thanksgiving! So, excluding any unseen problems, it should all be on by the meet!
