Hey guys, I’m about to pull the trigger on this thing. It’s rust free and super clean and comes with a clean Va title. It’s everything I been looking for, Turbo Diesel, manual, rust free and 4x4 and I don’t have to take the time or risk of buying in Japan and importing. I’m prob going to do a lift kit and 33’s but keep it stock otherwise.

My main concern is will I be able to find parts? Like an oil filter and Where?

Anyone with knowledge or that has one, I’d be glad to hear about your experience and so forth.

You really gonna tease us with this and not upload any pics?? Kids these days :tsk: :tsk:
If I'm not mistaken Canada has plenty of diesels out and about. In fact out of everywhere these cars were shipped to, I believe we're the only ones who didn't receive the option

Amayama.com and partsouq.com should be able to get any part you need if there is still stock or inventory of that part.

If you end up buying it and don't post any pics then it Didn't Happen as far as the internet is concerned......

This is your answer right here. Oil, oil filters, trans/diff fluid, etc. should be able to be sourced in the US.

Those are the two sources I use for all my JDM-only parts on my other Toyotas.

Manual diesel would be cool. How doggy is it to drive?

Getting regular freight moved is a chore these days. I can’t ever imagine the ass ache that importing a car would be now.

If it’s what you want, and the price works, do et!

And pics or it didn’t happen like already said.

Check the price of oil filter and air filters on JDM Diesels. I tried to buy air and oil filter for the Hilux LN 106 and those are EXPENSIVE compared to what we pay for US specs.

Just an fyi. the expensive-to-ship parts that you may need to buy but may not be easily available in north america:

1. Cylinder head - known to crack at around 300,000 - 350,000 km. sometimes before that

2. injectors - recommended to be replaced or reconditioned (correctly) at every 150,000 km to avoid cracking the cylinder head
3. radiator - the hose nozzle positions are different from those on the 5VZ-FE
4. transmission - also A340F but there are differences and also the torque converter is different from that of the VZN185L

5. transfer case - it's also VF3AM, but there are differences

also, when you plan to lift it, using the same spring, the amount of lift will be less when compared to the VZN185L because the KZN185W is heavier (engine is heavier by about 150 lb, among others)
