Hey Everyone,

Since I have the truck at the paint shop at the moment, decided this would be a good time to start a build thread, kill some time and post up some of the current & upcoming mods.

So a little back story, I owned a 07 MT FJ , took it with me to the Dominican Republic when I went down there for Dental school. When I finished school brought it with me back to the States.
Unfortunately some things came up early last year that made me have to sell the truck.

Flash forward to to Feb 16th and I was finally able to get back into a 4x4 Toyota and picked up a 2015 SR5 4x4 (clean Carfax, no rust, 44k miles).

I believe I got really good deal, paid $25,400 OTD w/ tax and tags included. I could have purchased a new TE, but with the added cost would have had to stay stock for a year or two, I took a look at the vehicles history and maintenance records, did an inspection and decided to buy used & use the extra money for mods :guitar2:

I am missing a rear locker going that route, but with my FJ and living in Florida I was never in a situation where a winch/tracks would not have done the job. I do plan on re-gearing / air lockers down the road.

So let's get into what I'm working with here :typing: , Here are some initial picture of how she was last month when I picked her up.

Everything on the truck was in awesome condition, except for the center console that had a bunch of tiny scratches and a repair job on the driver door.

The first thing I did was remove the center console and sand/paint the scratches, while I was at it decided to also remove/paint the hvacs columns and sifter.

Really happy with the end result

Next thing I did was pick up a set of Weathertech mats to protect the carpeting and a center console organizer.

Since I was still waiting on parts decided this would be a good time to get a 15% Tint and take her to the audio shop to install a Clifford 2-way alarm.

Then some of the real goodies started to come in, over the span of 3 days received my;
- Icon stage 2
- 285/70/17 Nitto Ridge
- TJM Winch and Large recovery gear bag
- Factor 55 1.5" fairlead & Flatlink E
- front marker lights.

Remember that botched paint repair job I mentioned earlier? It's been driving me nuts every time I walk up to the truck, it's extremely noticeable when the sun hits it. I would have preferred a nice pinstripe of honor to this makeup of shame. Decided I needed to have the door painted, but while I was at it, why not pick up a scooped hood to add those 50+ horse power I keep reading about :car:.

So that's where I'm at, waiting on her to get released from the ER and hopefully it'll look great.

Going to pick up my Allpro frame sliders from UPS tomorrow:rockon:

At the moment I'm waiting for my SCS Stealth wheels to come in sometime next week, Also have a Metaltech stage 3 bumper in route (slated for a 3/27 delivery), a FrontRunner RR and Gobi rear ladder (wanted the gobi rack as well but that 12 week lead time would kill me)

I've also come up with a rear storage solution in aluminum, hopefully can start building it after all the mods that are in route are installed.

If you made it this far, Thanks for reading!

I love your bungee cord UCA it just screams USMC make-shit-work, who makes that brand? :D Really adjustable?

Good work so far! keep it up, loving the build and great work on the painting.

Semper Gumbi!, and yes they are, +20 Caster

Yut Yas!!

Where did you get the Trail hood w/ scoop?

https://toyotaparts.suntoyota.com/index.php?p=cart
I looked online for the best price I could find in FL, then took the quote to the local dealer and got a price match.

Got the hood for $354 and the scoop for $77.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there a few more parts required than just the hood and scoop to properly do the conversion?
