Just got rear ended... In the drive thru.

Lady came around the curve and apparently her foot got hung up on the gas. I had the truck in drive with my foot on the brake, but she pushed me about 3 or 4 feet forward. There's a tiny dent in the bumper and i think the hitch is maybe slightly bent upwards. It's completely flush with the bumper, which it seems like it wouldn't have been before. The lady actually knows my dad as they're the local mom n pop electrician (well, they're a little bigger than that, but it's a family business). I'm going to take it to a shop in the morning and have them look it over. Anyone any other advice?

Oh, everyone's alright. She's going to need a new bumper for her 2013 Odyssey though.

Check the frame and rear suspension stuff. I'd go over the body gaps around the tailgate as well to make sure nothing got pushed. Then take that insurance check and buy yourself a new plate or tube rear bumper!

I got ran into at a gas station while waiting in line for a pump in my wife's new Honda. Which happened to be her first car purchase.

Fast forward 8 days and someone ran into me in my T4R bc they were texting and driving. Luckily I didn't remove my ball hitch and was not effected. Her SUVs bumper got about 10 inches of steel through it.

I always leave something plugged into the rear hitch for exactly this reason. Also to help 'pursuade' people from trying to parallel park by braille around me. Bummer you got bumped though, hopefully it will all work out. If none of the body/bumper is bumped you can always get a new hitch for ~150 and call it a day. Put the rest into maintenance on the truck and stash the rest.

Lady ran into my hitch on my Tundra while texting last year rolling from a red light. She was complaining to the officer why I had my hitch on my truck if I wasn't towing anything. His retort was that I was protecting my investment from irresponsible people such as herself. No damage to my Tundra.

I got rear ended INSIDE an automatic car wash a few weeks ago. It's the kind that you drive into, put it in neutral, and there's a pusher at the wheels that rolls them through the process. The moron behind me put the car in gear while it was in the middle of the wash and hit me. Luckily I was in neutral, so it just pushed the 4Runner over the wheel chock, and didn't really do any damage. He had an imprint of the hitch on his bumper cover. People amaze me. :gun6:

My better half always asks why I have to drive so fast. She says I will get a ticket, a tire could blow,.etc. True I say but in undertaking such I am distancing us from the idiots on the roads whose driving skills presently are nothing short of scary at least to me.

I hope I am long gone off this earth by the time all cars are driverless due largely to the lack of driving comprehension or ineptness exuded by drivers today.

I blame facebook. My contempt for that site knows no bounds. It is truly terrifying the frequency with which I see people driving down the road staring into their phones swiping up with their thumbs. One of the major reasons I sold my motorcycle.

+1 for the hitch as well. I got rear ended going to class one morning, but the guy that hit me was going fast enough to slam me into the f150 with a hitch in front of me :ybrick: Needless to say I missed my morning class...

I got rear ended on my motorcycle by a Chevy Tahoe. Girl was texting and driving. She didn't even realize she had hit me and continued to drive forward as my bike and legs started to get sucked under her bumper before another motorist thankfully got her attention. Bike was obviously totaled and I narrowly escaped a trip to the hospital/morgue. I must say its real nice to have a car frame and bumper to protect me from such incidents in the future.

I took it by Toyota. One of my coworker's husband is the service manager there. He pretty thoroughly looked over everything. No damage at all other than the cosmetics on the hitch and a few nicks on the bumper. I'm just going to ask that she pays for a new hitch and calls it a day as there really isn't any harm done.

I have all but decided to sell my bike. I may swap it for a dual sport with the intent of only road riding to and from trails, but we'll see. It's more likely it'll go towards a down payment of something to compliment the 4runner with a little more pep and better MPGs (i'm thinking a Toybaru FR-S/BRZ).

It took me about 10 mins for my blood to stop boiling. It's seriously scary.

I had a guy blow through a stop sign the other day, I slammed on the brakes and honked. He proceeded to give me the finger and honk back. Of course he's driving some POS that's worth less than the wheels and tires on my truck. I seriously hate people.
