Taking that $6k as a percentage of the LC's cost, ANY dealer is gonna spank you that same percentage, or worse, to trade in (down) any 1 YO vehicle.

Was it a less-than-well-thought-out purchase? Probably. But I know there have been "new" T4Rs traded in too. To each his own, eh Stiffy?

Oh crap, I was serious. Stif had me pegged. You guys are too cynical, ha! Had I gone with my first instinct, I would have bought the new 2013 LE 4runner. But, I have the coin so the LC should be big ballin, right?! Found it to be way to extravagant 'for me'. Got caught up, who doesn't buying a car... no im not talking to you, the guy who keeps it cool. I'm like the other 99% of consumers that get the high! haha

Truth is, this 2010 runner I'm in now has the exact same features 'I value' the LC did:
Remote start, Bluetooth, off road capability, slew of aftermarket accessories, not to mention better mpg and all that crap. I live my life to be happy, not too worried on carving the most efficient routes.

I've never been happier to be back in a 4runner. Bought a 2013 land cruiser last September and was really disappointed, well maybe just uncomfortable. Sold it 10 months later and walla! bought a 2010 LE with 40k miles and had to wrap in the $6k I was upside down in the cruiser and it still cut my monthly payment in half, and not to mention it fits me and my personality so much better. Driving around seeing the people driving Land Cruisers is weird concoction of rich housewives and more rich housewives on the south side, and even weirder... Jez

I have been reading you guys for about 4 years now and finally have a rig I can show off. Only because I'm more comfortable tearing into this one. I have an OME suspension ordered and shockworks sliders coming soon. Also just ordered the flat utility baja from John. Was in stock and shipped today.

I will attempt to attach the preverbal before pic, as if you haven't seen it before. But for the record, this is a dare from the wife to post to you guys whom I admire, and to prove my modding skills! Screw the pics, ill figure it out later ...

Interesting comment on the LC demographic. That's how it is where I live too. I see a ton of them in the are of town I currently live. All pristine, not a scratch, let alone a spec of dust on em, mostly driven by affluent women it appears. The only dirty LC I ever see is the guy who parks next to me in the garage who bought his w/ 160K. Seems like he beats the hell out of it on fairly regular basis.

I bet those rigs can get you to the mall and back no problemo.

When I owned my 80 back then people would make the same comments about LC owners. this was a time when I had one that I was beating on and one I used for work as a shop teacher. I really can't drive a beat up LC that's always had a cloud of dust on the body. Not to mention the metals panels that had tears on it. I wheel my second one also, but light duty work only then slowly quit after I rolled my first one. Now, people don't even notice the 80 anymore. Well, its gone now that I have a 4 runner. Yes, it got me to the mall and back and I love it 10 mpg or not. Why do people judge base on the vehicle they drive, the house they live and for women, the purse they hold or the shoe they own? Are we that shallow or stupid? I had an old porsche turbo 911, people would say to my face "You make too much money as a contractor". Well hell, that's the point right?

I love the LX fo' and a half. Most have never been off road and are in near-pristine condition. Some even have the coveted factory lockers.

If you're looking for an unmolested FJ80 project truck, the 450 is about as good as you can get, with prices close to similarly used 80s. I'm actually trying to buy one right now to transfer all of the bumpers, wheels, slders, skids, lift, etc. from my ARB/OME pimped out 80 series. The 80 has grenaded rear diff, bad t-case, and cooling and header issues that I'm thinking might be easier to avoid fixing if I can get an LX450, transfer all of the armored and off road bits, then use the parts from the LX to get the FJ80 at least rolling and unload it on fleabay.

I do admit it'd be pretty odd to have a snorkelized, fully trail equipped LX450. Can't be too many of them running around.

Next time please drive your LC directly to my house for trade Honestly thought, I have not seen too many move from Lc to 4R. If the fits you better then that's awesome considering it nearly half the price and is still awesome. In the end what ever fits you best is what you should be going for. Also, thanks for giving Toyota one $80k reason to keep selling BOF SUV's here. We are going to need every one we can get.
