In the interest of keeping an accurate log of maintenance and upgrades I will now be polluting the site with my upgrades and modifications. Baseline was 1997 4wd SR5 with just shy of 150k miles.
Timing belt and water pump were immediately replaced 'cause the belt was slapping the cover after someone didn't replace the tensioner and it decided to hit the self destruct button. The noise was atrocious and sounded like a thrown rod but I talked the guy down quite a bit because it was so loud.
Took it out and did some light wheeling trying to get to a climbing crag. Turns out the extremely abnormal rain we have gotten made the road even worse than before. I was shut down even aired down with a friend's sand ladders after 3 hours of digging. Since then I have decided to bite the bullet and a Yukon Zip locker and ARB CKSA12 are in the mail. I will go climb sweet ass limestone!
In the meantime I installed a new Denso radiator as preventative maintenance. This unit was really stout, packaged well, and dropped in like it was stock. I would definitely recommend the Denso to anyone looking to replace the stock unit.
Crusing on Amazon one day I came across some dirt cheap auxiliary lights. It was I think $18 shipped for two lights. I wasn't expecting much but thought they could make some good rock spotters. They turned out to be decently bright for the money.
