Hi. I went to the dealer today to check the KDSS system. There is a bushing that seems used. Here are some pics. I need help as to what might be the cause. The tech at the dealer shop admited he doesnt work with 4runners alot.

Any insight or info will be greatly appreciated.

The last picture is on passenger side you can see the bushing is not worn out at all.

What exactly are you asking? Do you mean the bushing looks worn? It is definitely used if you have a 2011 truck with original bushings. Are you having problems with your truck? Are you trying to find out what may be the cause of wearing out a bushing? One cause can be driving and using your truck. Those bushing definitely need to be replaced, my sway bar isn't floating in the bushing hole like yours is.

That first pic doesn't even look like it has the bushing. My 2010 with 81k has both bushing very snugly holding the KDSS sway bar in place. I switched my shocks to 5100's a few months ago and had the bar disconnected....yours looks extremely different...like if something is missing entirely.

Thank you that is what I am looking for answers, and the causes of this issue.
Is my KDSS system broke ? Why do I have 3/4 of a inch lower of passenger. If you look at my sig. I have OME coils all over and Bilsteins all over.

I had an issue with this when the truck was under warranty. Same problem now. I just want to correct what is broken if anything is broken. I would not bother you guys if I knew the answer...

I have the receipt from when the truck was under warranty for a used bushing but I suspect that it was ill addressed and now I am asking for help.

Should I go to the dealer where I bought the truck with the receipt and ask them to fix it or ...

From what I saw and form the pictures something is wrong. Guys at Toyota are either clueless or want to bounce the ball at me to pay for repairs. Which I disagree.

1engineer Antman and fellow T4R pros gimme something I can work with.

This is not normal usage something is broke I can feel it. Even if my KDSS light doesn't stay light up.

KDSS locks out the system when you hit 12mph. It should unlock it when you're stopped like that. So the system should self level until it balances all of the forces in the system. One side low probably indicates that your rear suspension on the same side is also experiencing a downward force from the rear bar. Does it look the same? It's possible it needs to be re-calibrated to zero the sway bars. There's a procedure for that around here somewhere. It's just a matter of getting it level and opening the valves on the control box, but not too far so they open the system to the outside.

Where did you get this information?

The KDSS system doesn't "lock" and "unlock". It is always functioning thus why it helps with handling at low and high speeds.

OP- DO NOT TOUCH THE CONTROL BOX OR VALVES if you are unsure of what you are doing. This mistake can cost you $$$.

LOL I know it was told to me not to mess with that. KDSS system when and if it breaks = $ out of my pockets.

I will wait for more input before taking action. But frankly the only action is going to talk with the manager where I bought the truck from and explain the situation to him.

I already had some issue with this when the teuck was under warranty but it seems the person in charge of my file was incompetent or did not know what a 4 runner is...

I have all the files and will bring all the documents to him and will see what he has to say.

Are you having any on or off road strange symptoms or issues with the KDSS?

Yes. It does. There are electronic valves that open and close at 12mph. When closed, no fluid flows. Fluid does not compress. So it locks the pistons in the position they are at when you reach the speed that the valves close.

The sway bars always function as springs. The cylinders do not always move. I got this information from Toyota Motor Corporation.

This is the process for re-setting a zero point. I do agree that if you don't know what you're doing, get someone who does. KDSS is in millions of vehicles. Many people have reset them.
Wrong pic. I'll look for the reset instructions. It should self reset every time you flex at low speed, but it's a common issue in the LC200's that they need to manually open the shutter valves to reset them to cure a KDSS lean. The key is to open the valve but not breach the seal. So only back off the shutter valve bolts by a small amount.

Okay found it:
