Thats something I threw together in photoshop, I'm sure others can probably do better though...
 
I did the same as everyone else and saw this on clearance at BB and picked one up after ohhing and ahhing at the Garmin GPS built in and not being a $2390472340 add on from alpine on my last unit.

Install was easy, everything went to plan and everything worked great. I followed the install with a set of alpine type-s components up front and another set of the type-s in the rear. Wrapped some dynamat before install and called it a day.

I did assume it was going to come with blue tooth so i have to pick that up today but overall I'm fairly happy with this unit so far.

I'm rendering a little video i made out of excitement earlier that should be processed on youtube in a little bit.

I missed how to use a custom boot screen, how do you do that?
 
never mind figured it out. Here are some instructions for anyone else interested:

Here's what you should do:
1. Connect USB that contains your custom background ( for my test, I use a background with 480 x 234 pixels)
2. enter setup mode by:
- holding both SRC+EJECT and while holding it press the RESET button
- wait for the screen that displays:
- Kenwood Image
- OEM image
3. Select OEM Image
4. Select the file that you wanted to be the start-up screen, hit ENTER
5. You will be back to the screen described in (2)
6. Turn OFF unit by holding SRC
7. Turn ON unit by pressing SRC

The unit should start up with your customized background.

The image should be 510X214

I do but it is stuff that I doubt anyone else will be interested in. I'm at the tint shop now, I'll post them when I get home.

If anyone has a request I can try and work one out for you too.

Just a simple background with the yota symbol, or TRD, or 4Runner, or one or a combination of those with the Kenwood logo - any of those might be cool if you have the time.

Incidentally, did hitting the "reset" button to do this wipe out all of your presets, colors, and everything?
 
yes it does but you can go into memory beforehand and save all of your settings and just recall them after the reset.

another little trick i found is that grounding the parking wire to the ground in the harness from the unit, allows video to play at all times. This is great for passengers considering I'm about to drive 3 people on a 4 hour trip today!
 
I picked up the bt200 Bluetooth module yesterday. I had some trouble getting it to work though. I followed everything in the manual to the t and it the Bluetooth setup wasn't showing up as an option in my setup menu like it should. The directions for it suck in the first place. So I figured it was a problem with the dipswithes which I ended up setting them for another unit close to mine that was in the list and it worked.

Once everything was up and running, I started making a few test calls and everything sounded good. I configured my speed dials and voice recognition. However when I was on my way to the beach, some calls were made but they all sounded really crappy coming out of the speakers.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or what's your experience installing the Bluetooth addon to this unit?
