Here's the latest in my saga.....I returned the defective unit to the Amazon Marketplace retailer, they sent out a replacement and it got lost in shipping! Someone doesn't want me to have this unit! :dammit:

They were cool about it and gave me a complete refund.

I just ordered from SonicElectronix and it should be here tomorrow. They even threw in the diversity antenna adapter I wanted to try for free.

Can I get some crossed-fingers please? Thanks!

I will be crossing my fingers my brotha! How'd you get that antenna adapter for free? That's cool! Anyways...hopefully I get to buy mine soon. Replacing windshield and paying for school got me broke again! Doh!

Can't wait til I get that DNX7100 and JL HO box with w7 sub in it! *drool*

Well, it arrived yesterday and I've finally got it installed. Only issue is the Sport's trim piece is much larger than the unit and the plastic insert that came with the DNX7100 doesn't fit exactly correct. (I cracked the insert when re-attaching the trim )

Here's the kicker......when I first hooked up this new unit it had THE SAME ISSUE as the previous one. The screen would go down, but not back up. I thought that I MUST be doing something wrong whether it be wiring or operation. So I called Kenwood again and talked to 2 different techs. BOTH of them told me this unit was defective and to send it back....just like the last one!

After I got off the phone with them I sat there thinking this can't be right. So I started messing around with the multiple menus the unit has. I found one menu where you can adjust the default tilt-angle of the screen and tried a few settings. I then turned the unit off and back on again and....it works! The faceplate goes all the way down, and all the way back up again! This has to be a bug in the DNX7100's firmware.

I'll post pics and a writeup shortly.

i think its just you i did not have any issues but i am glad you got it working just fine

The Nissan adapter didn't work. The other adapter I bought would have worked if I had an adapter that increased the size of the smaller antenna connector.

In other words, I did like you did and only used the larger one.

Quick question...I'm lookin into getting XM and Ipod adapter for DNX7100. I see that Ipod adapter takes like 3 inputs on the unit, is there another input for XM after installing Ipod adapter?

Yep, there is another connection for XM which requires the purchase of the associated XM receiver.

if you get the gxm-30 which is what i got you plug the antenna into a usb looking thing and control the xm through the nav section.

if you get the xmdirect it plugs into the the bus port for the cd changer


the ipod plugs into the usb port and two other jacks specifically for the ipod one is audio and one is video

in other words no mater which xm antenna you get it will work with the ipod. i use my ipod daily with the gxm-30 the only thing i dont like about the gxm-30 is the channel changing is the friendliest on the remote. but its a small price to pay for xm nav traffic

I wanted to run it all the way into the center storage compartment for easy access and hide-ability. Wonder if you can use 2 into 1 usb port to have both ipod adapter and usb port.

nav trafic is cool if you drive the highways i just mounted mine on my dash. ipod cord is long. and i havent tried to split it yet

I just picked up this unit! I'm very excited to get it installed. I saw that you plug the ipod adapter into the usb port. Does that mean you can only use one or the other? Any pics of it installed in an 03+ 4runner? couple more questions lol.

Any ideas of where to put the nav antenna. I liked it on the dash I think that's the best but is the signal as good as mounting it on top of the car? Thanks.

Hey Supraman215....Here's my install...scroll down for some pics. I placed the antenna on the far right corner of the dash...works great.

I've read the TYTO manual and Kenwood manual and installation seems pretty easy. But, I want to ground the parking wire so that I can use all its feature anytime I want. Anyone got a pic of its location? I'm guessing you splice the green wire(parking wire) into 2 then twist them into the ground wire?
One more thing, if I do this, will my truck also think it got its parking break engaged all the time?

correction...I read it all wrong...I think...
so...take the black(ground wire) and Light Green(parking sensor wire) from the kenwood unit and then connect it with the black(ground wire) on the TYTO? Right?

I can't wait!! Where's my unit!!! Ahh!!

Yep...anything that needs to be gounded off the DNX7100 (including the parking brake wire) can be connected to the black ground wire off the TYTO-01. That's how I did mine and it works fine.

Did you hook up the dim light wire (orange)? I read somewhere that dnx7100 doesn't dim or whatever. Very minor thing just wondering if I need to even bother hookin it up.

I spent about 5 minutes looking for where to connect the dimmer wire....then got bored. So I didn't hook it up...and I can't tell the difference either way. If you figure it out, let me know!
