Key hole feels sticky/ doesn't want to turn?

Hey guys.....yet again. lol.

Anyways, on my 03 4R when I put the key in the actual hole in the drivers door or on the passenger door, it feels sticky or "stuck" like it doesn't want to turn. Yes it is the right key. Some times I have to turn it so hard I feel like the key is about to snap in half, then it finally turns. I haven't tried spraying and WD-40 or anything like that in there, but will that loosen it up? Thanks, I don't want to break something.

are u sure u didnt lock up the steering wheel? give the steering wheel a turn and see if u can turn the key.

my bad, spray some wd40 in the hole and on the key and wipe the key clean, then spray and wipe the excess off the key.

I had the same problem on my back window, I used some graphite lubricant called lock-ease

WD40 is actually a horrible lubricant, one of it's primary functions when developed was as a degreaser, it's good at stripping away gunked up metal parts but it will dry up quick and leave little to no lubricant behind. You will find yourself constantly applying it if using as a lubricant.

You want to use a spray grease with PTFE in it , it has superior creeping ability, is dielectric so will not hinder any electrical parts, is safe on rubber/plastic seals, is also hydrophobic so naturally repels water to prevent corrosion.

I use the PTFE spray from SuperLube (although any brand will do)

I use it all over my home, the 4runner and my motorcycle.

On the 4runner, I use it on all door locks and door hinges, rear gate lock mechanism, ignition coil boots, electrical connectors (primarily the ones for the running board lights and any other exposed to the elements). It's good stuff and doesn't not need to be applied very often, and there is no odor!

when I first bought the truck in July, i wanted to try closing the back window by turning the key. It wouldn't budge so i sprayed WD40 and have had no issues since then.
