keyless entry problems

HELP

My drivers side always works...the other doors are hit and miss sometimes all works sometime passenger side works...etc. I also get the one beep when I push lock button on and off. And sometime when I push lock button twice head lights go off sometimes they stay on.

What is the problem?

If you fiddle with the lights after you take the key out, it will not shut off automatically.

If the lights are on and I open the door immediately after taking the key out, it'll turn off right when the door is opened. If the lights are on and I open the door a little later, the lights will turn off after minute or two, or with the second press of the 'Lock' button on the remote.

You should be getting two beeps on each press of 'Unlock' and one beep for 'Lock'. By default, the 4Runner is set to only unlock the driver's door when you press 'Unlock'. It takes two presses of 'Unlock' to unlock all doors. If you wait too long to press 'Unlock' again, it won't unlock all doors.
