There are alternatives out there as a lot of vendors have jumped on the KING bandwagon, and I'm probably missing a few good vendors (sorry) but these four from my experience are gonna get you taken care of better than most.
This forum is invaluable as well.
My advice is to read until your eyes bleed to make sure you know exactly what you need.

KING Shocks are a step up from Bilstein 6112's for sure.

If you are looking for offroad performance and plan on spending time off
the payment, then KING is a great way to go and worth the investment.

I believe T4R has a great group of vendors to choose from and everyone
is dedicated to getting you the best build for your use.

I've had my King/Total Chaos/Icon setup installed on the truck for a few weeks now. I purchased through Total Automotive and those guys were awesome to deal with, kept me updated every step of the way so I was never wondering.
The first time I drove out to the desert after installing I'll admit I was a little nervous to see how much of a difference such an expensive purchase would make. Within seconds of hitting dirt at high speed, I had a stupid smile on my face and everything made sense. They're called racing shocks for a reason, they really did an awesome job of soaking things up and keeping me planted. What an incredible difference over stock suspension.
My buddies have Tacomas with Bilstein suspension. Their ride is pretty stiff, and they were curious to take a ride in the 4runner with the new kings. They went through the same thing that I did but in the passengers seats; now they're pretty jealous and begging to get in the driver's seat for a spin.
Long story long, I couldn't be happier with my Kings. Buy once, cry once.

https://imgflip.com/i/23j72xAfter many many months my king install is finally complete. It had spacers when I bought it so I wasn’t exactly sure how I wood sit after the swap. Ben at filthy was very patient with me. I uses super flex 2” rear coils so I’m a little too raked.
( 22” front ,24” rear)
I’m going to see if they settle. I’m showing 5 threads on the fronts. I’m glad they are finally on.

After a little over a year of settling, I adjusted mine last week. I have 1” higher in the rear to give it slight rake. I do have KDSS, and 2” superflex rear springs. 9 threads above the collar on passenger side, 8 on driver side and 10mm OME trim pack spacer on rear passenger to adjust for kdss lean. Coilovers have the standard 550# rate springs.

New to this off-road stuff. Why King's over Icon? Curious as to why; seems like reviews for either are high.

Installed kings 700lb extended travel today. Feels so much better than the 5100s I had on. Set them at 6 thread preload. Small rake which should be gone this weekend after rear bumper install.

The KDSS brackets actually put the reservoirs in an area where they stay really clean in the wintertime, if that matters to you.

For those of you with the adjusters. How many clicks from full soft are you running on the street? Front and rear? And how soft are you running them when going on mild offroad trails? I know there are a lot of factors at play such as cargo weight and such. Just trying to get a general setting that everyone is at.

zero on all 4 corners when on the road. When off road i run on 9 clicks but I air down my tires to compensate.
