kolbydmc's "The Donkey" Build Thread

hey man i'm diggin everything your doing. i always love seeing other 2wd mods. just because we 2wd doesn't mean we have to keep it stock looking.
Thanks man, I totally agree. 2WD FTW well, until I get a 4x4.

^x2

but that carbon fiber looks sick! someone else on this forum has carbon fiber on the trim as well...I forget who...but anyway...how much would that cost?
Thanks! Not actually entirely sure how much that would cost, most likely under $100. It still is holding up well.

Looking good man! I like what you've done to the rig so far! :guitar2:
Thanks, right back at ya!

you're blowin' me outta the water here! i need to start moddin' my truck more!
LOL, I think we both know what is coming for your t4r:cheers:

Can you see the green door sills from the outside? Does it bother you?

I have clear coat issues as well with evergreen pearl.
I do see the green in the door sills, doesn't bother me one bit and I actually kind of like it.

Great build man! Your 4runner has come a long way since you have bought it. It looks like you live in the area I am moving back to. I will be in fry and west little york area. We will have to get together and go wheeling. Looks like your guys need a 4x4 in the group lol :D
Thanks! Sweet another member in my area! I'm for sure down to do some wheeling! We do need a 4x4 in the group, we need a tow truck:D

Once again two months have gone by and no update. One will be coming soon, nothing to major. Sorry to all for the long wait for reply.

Like I said, its been a while since my last update, here it goes.

I made a attempt at replacing the starter contacts. About a quarter way through I realized I needed liquid wrench. FML

I headed down to galveston to see Tornado Alley and the T.I.V, let me tell you, that thing is bad ass! I've wanted to chase since I saw twister as a little kid. Michael833 met up with me down there.

After the TIV, I headed down to san luis pass for a quick wheeling trip. Things got wet:naughty: I need a snorkel!

New sitcker.

I never really pointed out that I'm using Husky floor mats from a 4th gen. The fronts fit great the rear, not so much. Cargo area fits good.

Really hoping to get a snorkel soon. Since I flooded it a new noise has arose,
no power loss but kind of a whining noise when i accelerate. Also a moaning noise
when rolling up windows or sitting at a light.
I can feel the moaning. Your thoughts?

Lone Star Toyota Jamboree Write - UP
-

The weekend before last was the yearly Lone Star Toyota Jamboree.
I was only able to make it up there for one day but, that day
I had a blast. I was blown away with the number of FJs that turned out.
I was one of two 3rd gens, no idea if the other guy is on t4r.
5 or so 4th gens. No 5th gens. The meetup gathered near 200 vehicles
and was hosted by the Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area.
Overall I'd say my 2WD handled greater then anyone expected, including myself. I had the only 2WD truck there.

Part One
-
Had some ammo crates that I'll start keeping in the car with me,
they are very handy for tow straps and such.

The Mud Hole
We came to a point where the sponsors knew I would not
make this corner that was made of solid mud.
They pretty much told me to floor it into the pit so they could winch me out.

I met a great guy from Cruiser Corps named Josh. He owned the first
6 inch lifted FJ. I went on a few rides with him.

Conclusion
I have full trust in my truck for long road trips now. It didn't budge.
I have Hours of GoPro video I have to go through and edit into a movie so , look forward to that!
I'm going to finish this by giving a shout out to the
event sponsors, vendors, and staff.
You all were fantastic and without you I'd still be in that mud hole!

I'm realizing there's a lot more 2wd 4runners on here than I thought. Maybe you guys should get a 2wd 4runner Thread going lol.

I was at Jambo, I was the only 3rd Gen I saw though..? I was with the TTORA & TOR guys.. Truck did great. I avoided all the FJ guys but one..

our pictures are here

I am surprised you made it as far as you did with 2wd..

not having participated alongside a fellow 2WD that i know personally depresses me.
It's ok, you can make it up next year.

Maybe a good idea, make it a sticky!

Like I said in he PM I was parked behind you at the office, and then I was parked at random around the pavilion. During dinner and raffle I was actually parked right outside pointing the FJ trail with the LED light bars. Glad to hear that your truck did great! Why avoid FJ guys though? I met a few of them and they were great, went on plenty trails with them. I'm surprised how far the 2WD got me too. Love the pics, I joined the forum that you PMed to me so hopefully I can get in on some H - town wheelin.
