La Dee Flats run in Portland, OR area, Dec 3rd Please RSVP at link in post

Not my run, just posting since I'm in the PDX/Vancouver 4x4 meetup group. Sorry if this is in the wrong group.

Meet at 09:30 Shell gas station: 498 SE Main St, Estacada, or.
Info: Exploring the La Dee Flats OHV trails with some 4x4 newbies and meeting new Jeep enthusiasts.

Just posting to try to get more people active in the Portland area, and the Meetup group seems to be a good way to coordinate these.

Sorry that I won't be able to make it, as we have guests flying in from NY, Tx, and Utah for our christmas party that night, so will be busy, but will try to make it for other runs..

I went by there a few weeks back but didn't venture in alone on a weekday and without a spotter. I'm looking for a place to go once in a while with friends / family (dad and father in law would love it). Never been on an OHV trail before and haven't gotten any recovery gear yet.




I tried to find the play area I've seen in videos, but according to the map it was on the other side of this

I was reading on a Jeep forum(was looking for trails, not jeeps.. about some of the easier trails in Browns Camp they take the newbies on. They appear to be:
(On the moderate ones, I guess there are bypasses for the areas with steep runs and large rocks so you don’t have to turn around)
Hood River
Hogs Back
University Firepower
Cedar Tree
Bates Road Trail
Powerline
Stick in the nose
Happy Meal



I haven't been on any yet in the T4R. Went up David hill to get xmas trees yesterday and finally got the truck all muddy, although a dirt road to a parking lot is kinda cheating

We might have a couple of people from Intel going someday.. We all are looking for easier stuff, since I would be killed if I scratched the 3 month old T4R this soon. Thinking that meetup group above might be a good group to go with as they seem to have recovery gear and know the trails..

I have done most of those trails. Honestly there is nothing TOO crazy at browns camp. If anyone wants to go sometime i'm definitely up for a trip.

I went to Brown's Camp when I first got my bike, since I didn't have my endorsement yet. Went along with some friends in their Jeep. Had alot of fun, and even got to help pull someone out of some mud(2wd subaru or something) Didn't know where I was going so just drove/rode around for awhile. Went through on the roads in my Tacoma, but haven't had time to really go play yet in the T4R.

But yea, would be great to get something going sometime for us newbies(I mean I did beat the crap out of my Nissan 4x4 truck in Idaho and 7 mile OHV park near Spokane, Wa. Rock climbing, hill climbing.. jumping... places I shouldn't ever have been being new, but it was fun and never rolled it(Did miss a jump over a creek and smashed in my front bumper and shoved the radiator into the plastic fan and broke the front shocks, but other than that..

Going to be alot nicer to this truck. Didn't pay 50k with mods for that crappy nissan. Oh. and didn't have a spouse that would kill me if they knew I did anything rough to the truck

I'd say th crushers is pretty crazy. Took my 1st gen through the upper and lower crushers, and it was difficult to say the least. BTW! I was on 37's, locked front and rear, sas, dual cases and armored up....no way would a 5th gen go through there.



But most other trails up there aren't bad at all, fun spot.

Never done the crushers. Where is that? There is a few trails I wont do in my 4th gen, but most are not to bad if you are smart and navigate through them. I have played a good amount up there and lever left with something that did not buff out. I do credit a lot to my sliders though, without them I would be pretty messed up haha

Yea the "blue" runs are moderate but as for diamond runs, I would say Crushers, Waterfall, and Can Opener are pretty crazy. Unless you want to break something, I wouldn't do any of them. I've got a couple videos here. Rock_Rat You Tube Channel

It's pretty wet out there now. Trails are slick. Personally, I'm done for the winter. Getting ready to finish up some maintenance on mine and get ready for ski and ice climbing season.
