No rubbing ? No rubbing =) I had to cut a little of the front plastic but not too much.


Does the TE need more tire room since it has the KDSS suspension and has more travel? I don't want to get 275s if they rub under full compression.

Picked her up this afternoon, it took forever, true torture. I'll get some daytime shots soon. I thought the KM2's really did a number on her legs :bluejump: Paid the construction site next door a quick visit, daddy like.

This first 500 miles is a real drag, I really want to open her up. I know she has some power under the hood.

KM2's ain't bad on the freeway going 75 mph. Sure I can hear them with the music off, but for a mudder, not bad at all. Not sure on actual mpg's yet. LT265's. Not much of a handling difference between this and my 2000 Accord so far.

What the chart you posted says is you will be going 60 MPH when your speedometer reads 58.9 MPH.

Stock Tire - 265/70R17 >Search Tires Tire 1 - 275/70R17 >Search Tires

Actual Speed: 60 mph 100 km/h
Speedometer1: 58.9 mph 98.2 km/h

Speedometer Difference: - Speedometer Difference: 1.746% too slow
Diameter Difference: - Diameter Difference: 1.72%

275/70/17 which is up 1 size
285's will rub.



Yes,Going up one size bigger then a stock 265/70/17 to a 275/70/17 affects speedo at 1.75% too slow. In other words ,when your speedometer reads 60mph you are actually going 58.9mph. When it reads 100mph you are actually going 98.25mph. I found this out here.Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing

I've got 275's on my TE and have had no rubbing problems whatsoever. I can't guarantee I've fully compressed the suspension, but I've taken it through some very deep & steep ditches that seriously articulated the front and rear, and no rubs.

Ok, today I ran a gauntlet of some serious whoop–de–dos with my 275-70-17's on my TE, and had no rubbing whatsoever. I'm confident that sometime today I was at full compression on the front suspension, and all was well. I may even try to step up to 285's when these BFG's wear out.

As an aside, the 5th Gen TE KDSS handles whoop–de–dos with grace and ease. In my 3rd gen SR5, I'd have lost a few fillings if I had hit them at the same speed I did with my 5th gen today

In reading through the manual online (finally got my own VIN#!), I saw this and I was curious if the TE has a wider rim than the SR5. Does anyone know?

Yes the TE has a 7.5" wide wheel versus 7" for the SR5 and the Limited.
