Latest Mod and Exhaust questions

Ok, here's a video recorded on my drive home from work today. Inside with windows up. Driving up a long grade.

2100K RPM!!! That's 2,100,000 RPM!!!

I wish my 5vz revved that high.

Just messing w/ya man. I thought that sounded great. You should take a ride in mine, it sounds very similar w/the TRD setup.

N Tramway is a good road for playing with vehicles... that's a great spot for bedding in brakes too.

I just got mine installed today and Im so happy I got it, it's a lot better then what i was expecting and as far as the drone goes the km2's cover it up pretty well. I'm also glad it isn't an annoying ricey sound, its about as deep as a 6 can sound if you ask me.
 
The more I drive the more I like mine. The first two days I hit the Drone spot at 2000 rpm at about 45 mph and had this brain numbing drone occur.

This hasn't happened the last two days so hopfully the more I drive the better it will get.

Sure does sound deep in person, I liked it!

Those parts in the 1st video where the sound gets static-y is wen the camera couldn't keep up with the roar. haha
 
Sounds great man! I just installed my Volant intake and I love the nice throaty sound we get out of our trucks with the CAI installed! I think im going to take your advice when I inevitably change my exhaust out. :bravo:
 
Have you noticed

any improvement/decline in MPG?

Has the intake improved the low end in comparison to the ISR mod?

Yes, between the Injen intake and the higher flow muffler I have pretty much
regained the MPG I lost going from 265/75 to the 285/75 tires.
I already had the ISR mod with the elbow removed so adding the intake only
increased the air flow over the stock filter and filter box.

I kept the FPR connected to the rear of the plenum from my original update
to the ISR mod for the 2002 Runners when I added the CAI.

Low and high improved as it doesn't feel so sluggish with the 285 tires anymore. High end improved considerably from
40 to 70 mph. I have much better acceleration going up to Freeway speed than before the Injen.

I've gained back a minimum of 2 MPG before the muffler. Since I had the Borla installed on Monday I've been playing too much so won't have very good gas mileage this week...LOL!!!

Over the next couple weeks I should get a better estimate with the CAI plus muffler upgrades.

The reasons I chose the Injen is that it uses the new Dry Amsoil Nano-Fiber Filter. Also, Injen does not use the stock MAF housing and locate it directly behind the air filter. They locate it upstream from the filter. The air goes through a wide section of pipe and then it tapers down where the MAF is located increasing the velocity of the air flowing by the MAF. I reset the EFI by pulling the 20A fuse and it took a couple days to re-learn before I felt and saw the change on my Scanguage.

I have a Scanguage II so have been keeping track of the air to fuel ratios and it does run a bit leaner than before. When I romp on it it doesn't go to the lower 1300's as before adding the intake. When just cruising the A/F ratio stays around 1453 or a higher.
 
I have a gas mileage update. Last week with just the Injen intake my mileage was 17.9 mpg. This week with the intake and Borla my mileage was 18.5 mpg based on my fillup yesterday. I was surprised since I've been "Driving like I Stole it" this week just to hear the Borla roar....LOL!!!

Keep us updated on this when you fill up your next tank. Very interested to see if your gains are consistent and sustainable.
 
I just sent you a message on YouTube asking which size you went with, and then I found this thread [didn't realize you were a member] that answered that question, as well as my question about which one LINY had.

Now I'm torn about getting the 40942 or 40941!

They both sound really good.

don't want to highjack the thread, but how is the quality on the Volant? i'm thinking of putting one on my 2.7 ltr.




also, great sound in the vids. not ricey at all, nice and throaty.
