Leaking Bilstein 5160

So I was prepping my truck for a big Moab trip next week and wanted to make sure my rear suspension was all nice and tight. Been noticing a clunking sound coming from the rear over bumps. Put her on the lift and was shocked to see an oil coated passenger side shock. I haven't done any off road driving on these guys yet and they are a month old. Anyone experience something similar?

Warranty time!

I have warrantied a couple of other brands in the past.

Yup definitely, just irritating to discover it literally days before a big off road trip. Tis is life

I was reviewing Bilstein's warranty symptom matrix and it appears they list an oil coated shock body as "normal". Their support is closed until Monday so I can't get them on the phone. I dont know, I can see oil coming from the shaft as being normal but to me this doesn't look right. The driver side rear is bone dry.

That's not normal there.

I lost a rear Icon after a week. It looked like yours does. I pulled it off my FJ and it had lost its nitrogen charge and would not extend.

Fortunately, I took it back to TRDParts4U and they exchanged it on the spot and handled the warranty.

I just lost a front coilover last month. It was 6 months old. Icon warrantied it too.

Changing them out is a PITA but the warranty process was painless.

Went under mine today, and noticed my P/S 5160 was leaking at the 90 deg fitting as well... Ironically, it was less than 30 days post installation too! Thought I'd hop on here to see if anyone else had the same issue... Looks like it!

Got a replacement in route as of today, but what a pain!! Warranty covered the cost.

Don't drag your feet on that warranty! It was just discovered (at least by the masses) that the 5160s only carry a 90 day warranty!
