Leaky Sunroof

Having a black trail has me going to the car wash at least once week. With a mere 600 miles on this, it had me a little miffed when I went through the touchless car wash last evening. I noticed water entering through the seal of the "closed" sunroof.

I know there is a fair amount of water pressure coming from the nozzles, but I did not expect to see this. Has anyone else experienced this situation?

My 07 4R SE had a sunroof, but I never had any issues with it.

No issues here, I assume you've checked to make sure there wasn't anything like a leaf/grass etc. that may have been there when it was closed?

I noticed some drops too with the sunroof closed while going through this high pressures nozzles.

So, went straight to the house tried with the regular hose and it was fine no drops.... I dont know what to think!

No debris of any sort. I may be paranoid about it because there is a great amount of pressure from the nozzles of this particular car wash. I do prefer to hand wash, but i don't always have that luxury.

I just wonder if I should live with this or take it back to my dealer...any thoughts?

I noticed the same thing with the sunroof on my old Solara. I think it was the difference between the high pressure of a car wash vs. the low pressure of a hose at home. I never worried to much about it as long as it wouldn't leaking during a rain.

Hmm...first a possible "torqued" sunroof resulting in breaking, now a leaky one. Have found one of the "new gen bugs" thatll need to be worked out?

I've experience zero leakage through mine, even after going through a particularly fierce carwash that was so hard I was convinced it would leave me with a caved-in hood.

I'd say you have a problem.

For sure take to the dealer, that way your complaint is logged into Toyota's database of 'known' quality issues. High pressure car washes have always played havoc with window seals on all kinds of cars (maybe the 4Runner's height made it closer to the nozzles), but if there's an issue here, you want it registered.

I am going to notify my dealer tomorrow and see what they will do about it. I will keep you posted.

Had a full season of snow and meltoff on my sunroof with NO issues or leaking. Including 5+ feet of snow load on the vehicle(alot of weight).
My only tip is to not open the sunroof while driving if you have not cleared all the snow off your roof- when you apply the brakes a surprise will land in your lap burr

Have also home pressure washed with no leaks.

Hope you guys are not the norm.

So mine has been in the shop for 2 days for a leaky sunroof. My wife noticed it during one of our monsoon type rains in Florida. So they call and cannot duplicate the problem. She asked if they sprayed water at it and they told her they drove it through their wash rack with BRUSHES. I about hit the roof. I never take any of my vehicles through car washes with brushes. If it is going to get scratched I am going to do it offroad. So I am out of town now and she has to pick it up. Told her to go through the outside with a fine tooth comb and any scratches she sees to point them out to the manager. Damn dealers don't wash it when you ask and wash it when you don't want them too.
