LED Light Bar Inspiration

I am having trouble deciding which combinations of lights to get for a Baja long-rack. Not the worst dilemma to have, but between balancing looks, functionality, and cost I am having trouble choosing. I've narrowed my choices down to the following:

- A 20" in the middle and two 6" at each end
- A set of 3 10" going across
- A single 40"

*Only looking at SR RIGID.

All 3 combinations are within $40 of each other.

Please post some photos even if you do not have a Baja rack. Any feedback is much appreciated. I should also mention that the 20" and the middle 10' would be spot while the rest would be combo. All of the lights are going across the front of the rack.

Keep in mind that each bar has different mixes of spot and flood. Imo I'd just get a 40" curved and be done with it.
 
That's why the middle bar would be a spot and the two sides would be a combo. Heavily considering a 40 just because its much easier to instal.

From the research that I've done the biggest you can put on a rack is 40". two 20" would be too big since I have to take into account the spacing between the bars and the frame/housing thickness. But if there's a guy who is rocking that setup I'd love to see it.
Do you have his username?

Ah let me clear that up... I meant some dude was using 20" light bars as "alley lights" not forward facing light bars.
 
Gotcha. Yeah, front facing lights are all thats in the budget. Right now, 3 10" bars are what I can get for cheap. Cost is less light than the other two options, but there's a lot more wiring involved. I'm still trying to convince myself that a 40" looks just as good and that I'll need the extra 10" in width.

Go with a 40" straight. IMO, the curved one doesn't really offer up much extra benefit for the extra $$. Go with a spot/flood combo or a hyperspot/flood. Definitely stick with Rigid, as you'd mentioned you're doing already; the cheap Chinese ones scatter light so badly that you'll shine tons of light through the windshield and negate the benefit of having a big-boy lightbar. I had a 52" Chinese curved one on my f250 and it was atrocious.
 
Yep, the curved is too much $$ and I'm not sure it would work with how I intend to mount it. Based off of their website, RIGID only sells the 40" as spot/flood combo.
I agree, I would never buy Chinese. They are terribly inefficient and turn most of the power they get into heat. Being that this is on the roof, the last thing I would want is scattered light reflecting on the hood and blinding me.

Between the options , I am now debating between three 10" or the 40"....

I have 2 6" and one 10"spot in the middle on my Gobi.

I like having the three because I can aim the outside LED's towards the sides and the middle much farther down the road.

One light bar would probably still be brighter and easier to wire up though. Just my .02.
 
Agree with everything you said. My only hesitation would be the added cost of the 40" since I will most likely be buying one 10" used. I'm also not sold on the sheer size of a 40". Being that I'm mounting mine on a Bajarack and not the GOBI Stealth I don't want the lights to look too big up there since the Baja is considerably taller. May have to be creative and mount them hanging down under the rack, in-between the fairing and the roof....

You could peek at my build thread and see how mine ended up - the 40" fits, but it's barely narrow enough. The E series definitely sticks up above the rack a hair, but you'd be good with an SR series.

I'm not sure you'd really be getting ahead on 3x 10", aside from on price. Assuming you mount the bars on the fairing, it wouldn't be possible to aim the outer two outwards, as [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] suggested. If you were to go with a custom curved mount (like Rigids FJ roof rack mount) I'd go with a 20" in the middle and two 10" on the sides angled outward.
 
Awesome. Those photos are exactly what I was looking for. Finding a 5th gen with a Bajarack and light bar is harder than it sounds....

I don't think I would be aiming the lights outwards per-say, just relying on the Combo outer lights to give me some peripheral width. the middle light will be a Spot regardless. My budget will fit a 40" single row SR so I'm not too concerned with the height of the light, really only worried about the gap between the rack and roof. That is why I am considering mounting it in-between the rack and roof hanging down. I looked at those curved mounts but it's a little much for me. Trying to keep the cost down as well. But I definitely agree that other than cost I am better off with a 40".
