LED lighting

really? wow they have been out of them for a while now. were talking almost a year?? I don't know what it is with VLEDS. I love their stuff and was going to be a continued customer, but they have hardly anything for our trucks anymore. I guess you should go with Superbright, they always have the bulbs you need.

BTW: for future viewers, if you are local and need help installing these, i can get it all done for ya pretty quick. Send me PM

3 #194's for the Speedometer, RPM, fuel gauge, and engine temp. For the shifter light just 1 #72. Also 1#72 for the glove box and 1 #72 as well for the ignition light. So you need 3 #194's and just about every other bulb are #72's. Im not sure if there is a "brand name" just go to autolumination.com

looks great dude, thanks for the pics and info. think this is the color im going to go to also.....then work on getting the blue HID for my headlights and fogs...

again, great post !!

yeah I see that have all the exterior bulbs but as far as gauge lights like the #24 or a lot of the neo-wedge bulbs are gone and have been gone for a long long time.

Ok I'm slowly learning my way around the site..i thought i'd bump this thread rather than continuing my other one since this is probably more appropriate.

I've added some "recommended by superbrightLEDs" bulbs to my cart for my 1998 4Runner and wanted to get your thoughts before I ordered. I see lots of other types of bulbs in this thread but once it goes back a couple years I'm hesitant to follow that advice because I know these bulbs get all the time and that advice might be dated.

CLIMATE CONTROL/GLOVEBOX (4 in my cart)
(274-xHP3: 74 LED Bulb - 3 SMD LED Wide Angle Wedge Base
Options: 74-CWHP3: Cool White $3.49)

2 for 1998 climate control
1 for glovebox. These going to work ok? I thought the cool white would look more updated than the regular white..or should i get a regular white for the glovebox or a different type 74?

DASH/CLUSTER (3 in my cart)
(WLED-xHP15-TAC: 194 LED Bulb - 15 SMD LED Wedge Base Tower
Options: WLED-CWHP15-TAC: Cool White $6.95)

This should work ok? I saw someone used a strip-type to avoid hotspots so I'm wondering about that?

Can someone confirm if the 'low fuel' light uses the 194 bulb as well? I'm thinking of replacing that one with a regular incadescent because its burned out now and hard to tell if I put the bulb in the right way..i'd hate to put the panel back only to find its in wrong later when my fuel light fails to come on.

CARGO and DOME (2 in my cart)
(3022-xHP4: DE3175 LED Bulb - 4 SMD Options: 3022-WWHP4: Warm White)

I want these to be BRIGHT! I opted for regular white on these as I just want these to be as bright as possible.

I was scared to spend $20 on the '30 LED array' only to find it doesn't fit. Anyone try that?

MAP Lights BA9s (need 2)
Nothing yet! I'm confused about these as the SUPERBRIGHT recommended choice is not very bright and only available as "COOL WHITE".

I don't want crazy blue or anything..but my map lights *SUCK* now. I just want the replacement to be really really REALLY bright when I use them. Right now I'm pulling out my LED maglite I keep in the car anytime I need a light because the map lights are so dim.

THANKS and sorry for all the newbie questions!! :)

someone needs to make a thread with each 3rd gen year and every single led bulb associated with it. Even if a specific range of years have the same bulbs, make them separate anyways. Then sticky it, and lock it so no one can post in it lol. They will be a God.

its not that i dont know which bulb #s i need, its that the recommended ones at SUPERBRIGHTLED are not the same ones people talk about in this thread.

i mean thats why this thread exists right..? to help those of us new to this in understanding what to buy..i mean there are a ka-ZILLION different LED bulbs and having a top 3 or top 5 list specific to our trucks would make it alot easier.

i'm probably going to spend close to $100 on bulbs online and just wanted some confirmation they aren't crap before i place the order.

I went to a local LED retrofiting shop and the different types of LED bulbs out there are crazy. He has a dark room and wll for a fee, either Change all the bulbs and or add LEDs in for a perfect conversion. You drive your car in drop it off and come back th next day and pic it up. $200-$500. Depending on colour, car, many things. I have not checked out his web site yet but it is LEDmobil.com I think.

Here is how my dome and map lights came out! Super happy with it! Ight be too bright for some!

Here is the new dome through a filter, the new maps are the same only the 4x5 LEDs size from orvac electronics.

I was just speaking in general.. There should be a thread showing which type bulb and leave it at that. That takes away about 80% of the search. The rest is searching the best place to find them which Is what you stated, and I agree.

I am replacing all my interior lights with green leds to keep it stock(ish) and i am supercharged and i have a TRD boost gauge on the pillar, can i put an LED in the boost gauge to match everything else? Its driving me nuts without it!!

Thanks for the help

so the rear window control switch, and defog button, I've tried twice (breaking the bulbs in both instances) to replace them with these

7666097

"T4_SMT_B SMT HIGH POWER BLUE NEO WEDGE BASE LED LIGHT BULBS T4 | 1 PAIR"

the LED's never fit well, nor did they turn on, and the LED itself broke off when i tried to remove them to change the polarity they where on....

long story short, they didn't work. Is it just me? or does someone have a better suggestion for lights of those switches?

nice post.

The cluster bulbs are the same 96-02 model years correct?

BUT

The HVAC bulbs are different for the '01 '02 models right?

Maybe. :)

Without knowing what boost gauge you have, it's hard to say... but if it's an Autometer (normal one, not fancy one) it's probably a 194 bulb.

You can check by popping it out of the pod and looking to see if there's a removable bulb or not.

Check this out:

That top socket (with the wires) is a 194 bulb. Twist and pull to remove.

i think the post that shows the illumination for the 4runners is wrong:

the map lights on my 1998 are NOT the Ba9s; i found out after i ordered a couple of LED ones and popped the dome off. they look like the 3175s instead..same as the passenger and cargo DOME lights. :( now i got 2 expensive LEDs i dont know what to do with..anywhere else i can use them?
