Hi riceandpho, where is the interior fuse box? Is it in the driver left footwell under the dash?

I got my LED turn signal indicators from superbrightleds yesterday and want to install them asap.
 
So it warmed up a bit and I pulled my dash apart and got to the flasher relay and realized I bought the wrong one as a replacement.

The stock OEM flasher relay is a 12 pin unit. I had an 8 pin unit, so I had to abort.

I quickly checked ebay and can't find an equivalent 12 pin LED flasher relay. What relays have you guys used to replace the stock one?

The stock one is 81980-35020 066500-5570

Here is a pic of the OEM one and then a comparison between the 8 pin and my stock one.

did you see any additional wire harness after that drl flasher box you took out, i think there is a plug right next to it and its 8 pin.u did make sure to unblot the inside fuse box to get there right, i was able to reach and leave it there.

No I don't recall if there was another plug next to it. I remember that there is a plug going into the 12 pin, but not anything else near it.

So just so I understand what you're saying, the LED flasher relay does NOT replace the existing flasher relay, but now there is an additional relay added to the truck? I was always under the impression that it replaced the existing flasher relay. But you're saying we'll end up with two flasher relays......? I don't have any issue with that, just trying to clarify what is going on.

And you're also saying that this other plug is nearby?

Yes, I removed all 4 bolts including the bracket mounted to the wall. The OEM flasher relay is installed on the back of the fuse box as you'd mentioned before, so there is no way to get to it without removing the fuse box itself.

The led flasher relay replaces the factory relay, take a pic of the back of the fuse box , see where the 12 pin plug go to, it should go to a 8 pin plug, i do recall seeing it in a service manual. I think u might lose the day time running lights.

I'll attempt to do this when it gets warmer. Hopefully next weekend. Thanks for your help.

I finally got around to checking this and there is no other relay further back.

Can you post a pic of yours when you have time to take the dash apart so that I can see exactly what you see?

Why does replacing the turn signals with LEDs and not having them hyperflash have to be so painful?!? :(
 
bumping this thread since it was 7 years ago where everyone was doing this, some really over did it. i wonder if i should bring this back.
 
Lol they definitely became a standard across most vehicles it seems now. Been thinking about doing this with the full outer edge wrapped, using diffused LED tubes. That will come with a full retrofit though

i dont have this on the old retrofit anymore, and also its not on my current retrofit, i was thinking about putting some back on. it held up fine with the sticky side of the strip. i think i took them out when i was swapping out the d2s 2.0 to rx330 afs.

might be a little tight on the space if you try to fit that in the gap of the trim piece and headlight lens. but inside of the headlight might look weird.

I've been contemplating doing this and what would look the best. I was originally thinking of doing a "C" with the outside open. But wondering if that would be too much. I do like the simplicity of just the bottom.

he got some led strip on the inside. i tend to stay away from extras, just dont want to deal with extra problems later.
